Native Eyewear Names “Giveback Grant” Winner

$5,000 Awarded to DREAM Adaptive Recreation as part of the Locals Only Project in Whitefish, MT

Denver, CO (November 13, 2012) – Native Eyewear, makers of high-performance, polarized sunglasses for adventures of all types, has named DREAM Adaptive Recreation the “Giveback Grant” winner in Whitefish, Montana. The $5,000 grant was awarded on November 10, 2012 as part of the Locals Only Project.

“Native could not be more excited to award DREAM the $5000 Giveback Grant,” says Al Perkinson, Native Eyewear’s Vice President of Marketing “They provide incredible outdoor opportunities to people with disabilities and we are thrilled to be a part of their growth. The Locals Only Project is truly about being involved in the communities we work with and this is just one way to help continue that relationship.”

After dozens of organizations submitted for the Giveback Grant, Native selected their top five and then turned it over to the fans on the Native Eyewear Facebook page by posting how each organization would utilize the grant and letting fans vote for their favorite, with DREAM Adaptive Recreation ultimately winning.

DREAM Adaptive Recreation’s mission is to provide assistance to disabled children and adults to fulfill their outdoor recreational needs. For nearly 27 years, DREAM Adaptive Recreation has been helping disabled people access the outdoors through their completely free of charge programs.

The “Giveback Grant” program is part of Native Eyewear’s effort to thank the Whitefish community for their hospitality and participation in the 2012 Locals Only Project. The grant program marks the culmination of a 4-month relationship with the town and residents of Whitefish, MT.

The Locals Only Project is a program that seeks to find the best mountain towns, the best local talent and the best local adventures – all through fan nomination and votes. Native works with the local community to create content for their annual catalog and marketing materials by letting the locals tell their stories that embody the Native Eyewear brand of adventure, outdoors and the mountain lifestyle. Currently in it’s third year of the Locals Only Project, Native Eyewear has traveled to Boulder, CO, Hood River, OR and is wrapping up this year in Whitefish, MT.
