NAU 2016 SPRING COLLECTION CONCENTRATES ON BETTERING ESSENTIALS

New Sustainable Textiles Innovate Performance Wear

(Portland, OR) August 4, 2015 – The Nau Spring 2016 collection challenges the perception of traditional performance aesthetic and concentrates on the seasonal essentials. Through the lens of sustainability and minimizing impact, the slimmer breadth of styles allows for focus on best in category and designing pieces that complement each other. Inspired by the exploration of depth and layers of the spaces that surround us, Nau’s Spring collection brings new textile innovations to outdoor staples from baselayers to soft and hard shells. The collection will be available beginning in February 2016 at specialty outdoor retailers, boutique shops and at www.nau.com

OUTERWEAR INNOVATIONS: HARD & SOFT SHELL

In Spring 2016, Nau will update its soft shell offering with two key fabrics – Introvert and Reverb. Designed and implemented from a lens of maximum breathability and temperature regulation, the fabrics fuse technical performance with modern silhouettes. The Introvert fabric is a three-layer cotton soft shell material that offers multi-layered wearability and reinforced versatility with the benefits of a water and wind-resistant polyurethane laminate. The combination of a woven organic cotton exterior fabric bonded to an organic cotton knit on the interior results in outerwear styles that are soft and comfortable, yet durable and protective. The men’s Introvert Blazer has a styled slim fit complemented by articulated sleeve darts for movement and a five-button front with button-up collar for increased protection. The women’s Introvert Jacket features a relaxed fit with a high collar and shirttail hem and modified dolman sleeve.

Continuing innovation in soft shell fabrics, the Reverb material is crafted from 100-percent recycled polyester taffeta that is two-toned with a brighter color on one side and a more subdued color on the other. Its high-density construction and DWR finish protects from wind and rain with technical precision. The updated fabric is seen in the men’s Reverb Jacket, which is reversible, and the women’s Reverb Trench. The men’s gas station style jacket has performance touch points like reflective tape on the bottom hem of the brighter side, while the women’s trench features a zip-off hood with one-way drawcord.

Men’s Rebound Jacket, $295

The latest in Nau’s hard shell design is the men’s Rebound Jacket, constructed from three-layer waterproof breathable, four-way knit stretch recycled poly fabric. The Rebound Jacket’s soft construction provides effortless movement and relentless protection by repelling water on the outside and transferring moisture away from the wearer on the inside.

LAYERINGUPDATES

Nau will introduce a new fabric to its baselayer offering for women, a super soft blend Strie, a lightweight slub knit jersey made from 60-percent organic cotton an 40-percent recycled polyester. Strie will be used in classic basics including a long sleeve style with crossover back and open bottom hem, a short sleeve scoop neck t-shirt and a tank with an asymmetrical hem. Prices range from $45 to $55.

In midweight layers, the new women’s Randygoat Jacket takes cues from the warm-up athletic style with a high collar funnel neck and wide elastic hem that hits at the hip. The jacket is crafted from heathered Merino wool with a soft recycled polyester fleece interior. Nau will continue its use of Tencel French terry knit in an updated Elementerry Hoody for women with vertical front pleats, as well as in the introduction of the Elementerry Hoody for men.

WOMEN’S DRESSES: MADE FOR MOTION

Nau has added several silhouettes and fabrics to its Spring dress collection, all easy-to-wear, comfortable and versatile. Using a blend of organic cotton, polyester and Spandex, the new interlock Dinamic knit is a substantial midweight fabric ideal for styles that need to stretch and recover. In the active-meets-elegant Dinamic Sleeveless Dress, the fabric contours to the body without being too tight. The sleek fitting dress has a boat neck design with criss-cross back straps and an internal shelf bra that makes an easy transition from desk to trail. The Dinamic knit is also used in a Wrap Skirt with elastic waist, asymmetrical hem and front crossover body design.

The Flaxible Sleeveless Dress is a modern shift dress crafted from a soft blend of Tencel and linen. With deep drop-in pockets and hidden button placket, this workwear-inspired piece is airy and comfortable. Two additional highlights are the Elementerry Sleeveless Dress, a longer-length shift dress that hits below the knee; and the M2 Shift Dress, a t-shirt dress that blends Merino wool with Tencel to create a fabric that feels silky to the touch with the performance benefits of wool.
