Nashua, NH, — NEMO Equipment Inc., a tent manufacturer known for cutting edge tent design, today announced their involvement in a project aimed to change the paradigm of exploration.

The innovative use of air as structure, or AirSupported Technology, has earned NEMO many awards including Overall Winner of the ISPO BrandNew Awards in 2005, Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2005, and most recently Reader’s Digest Best of America 2006. These accolades and NEMO’s rich history of originality has drawn the attention of the Aerospace Industry.

NEMO’s expertise in highly innovative structures is being called upon to help revolutionize exploration. The NEMO design team has been selected to work on the Extreme eXPeditionary Architecture (EXP-Arch) project to create concepts based on highly mobile, quickly deployable and retractable architecture systems for the Earth, Moon, Mars, and beyond.

The EXP-Arch concept envisions mobile, self-erecting habitat/laboratory/emergency shelter systems that demonstrate adaptive exploration and are responsive to their environment. NEMO’s knowledge of lightweight and inflatable systems will help this project reach its goal of creating a habitable environment that expands up to 50 times its packed volume.

“NEMO’s mission is to stretch the limits of technology for adventure and survival in extreme environments. Our last NIAC funded project to design spacesuits was very successful and inspired a lot of great thinking. I’m very excited about this new project and it’s direct application to our products,” said Cam Brensinger, president and founder of NEMO Equipment.

The EXP-Arch project is a collaboration of Trotti & Associates, Inc., MIT and NEMO Equipment, Inc., and is funded by the NASA Institute for Advanced Concepts.

About NEMO Equipment, Inc.
NEMO Equipment, Inc. was founded in 2002 by Cam Brensinger. NEMO’s principle innovation is its use of a low-pressure pneumatic structure rather than aluminum tent poles. This “airbeam” structure allows their AirSupported tents to be set up in less than one minute. Most NEMO tents are single wall and constructed from the most advanced waterproof/breathable fabrics to minimize weight and maximize breathability. The combination of AirSupported Technology and single wall design results in some of the easiest to use, most enjoyable tents available. NEMO products can be found at selective specialty retail shops across North America as well as their website: http://www.nemoequipment.com. NEMO can also be reached toll free at 1(800) 997.9301. NEMO has numerous patents pending.
