{Dover, NH} – After winning multiple awards for its sleeping pads, including Backpacker’s Editors’ Choice, Gear Junkie’s Best in Show, and National Geographic Adventure’s Gear of the Year, NEMO has expanded and reenergized its line with nine new pads including ultralight, inflatable and self-inflating models. As part of the 2014 launch, new packaging, color schemes and a streamlined naming convention will make it easier for retailers and customers to understand pad technology and differentiate between a growing range of models and sizes.

Cosmo™ and Astro™ Lite Series. NEMO has cut the weight, but kept the comfort on two of its best-selling pads by marrying its ultralight Airlock Elite™ 20D polyester fabric with horizontal baffles for a stable, smooth sleeping surface and 3” of plush loft. The Lite series trims 6 ounces off the first generation of Cosmo™ and Astro™ pads and packs down small while offering maximum comfort and ease of use. The new Cosmo™ Lite pads feature NEMO’s new streamlined foot pump with one valve and a smaller surface area to save weight and space while still offering fast and easy inflation. Insulated versions feature PrimaLoft® for lightweight all-season warmth.
Cosmo™ 20R. NEMO’s best-selling Cosmo™ Air and Cosmo™ Insulated pads will now be available in 20” width, in addition to the previous 25” and 30” widths. The new Cosmo™ Air 20R and Cosmo™ Insulated 20R will feature a more streamlined foot pump offering better packability for backpacking, while still offering the maximum comfort and ease of inflation the rest of the Cosmo™ series is known for.
Ora™. Using NEMO’s 2-Axis Coring™ technology from the award-winning Zor™ series and its proven embossed laminate fabric found on the best-selling Cosmo™ series, Ora™ self inflating pads blend warmth, light weight and comfort into a versatile pad for all adventures. The Ora™ series comes in 20” and 25” widths; Short and Regular lengths for the 20” and Long for the 25”.
Line Refresh
In an effort to make the selling process easier for shop employees and clearer for customers, NEMO has rebranded its pad line with new names, colors and packaging.
Naming. Each pad is now listed by name, width and length. At first glance, the employee or customer knows the basic specs. For example, Ora™ 20S means it’s the Ora™ model in 20” width and regular length.
Color scheme. Each series now has its own color. For example, the Tuo™ series comes in Magma, Astro™ series in Dark Riptide, etc. For the PrimaLoft® insulated versions, those pads will share the same color scheme, but in a darker shade and labeled with the PrimaLoft® logo.
Packaging. Drawstring stuff sacks have replaced the shrink-wrapped plastic packaging. The new stuff sacks have bold graphics and end caps that feature the name of the pad and its dimensions. This allows the customers to open and examine the pad before purchase, and it allows the pads to be easily identified on the shelf. The new pad and stuff sacks colors also create a great visual on the shelf.
“With the refresh and reorganization of our pad line, we are now giving NEMO customers a wide range of choices, including the new Cosmo™ Air Lite, the lightest pad with 3” of loft and an integrated foot pump on the market. And our retail partners now have better tools to sell our products. We always aim to make the best product for our customer; offering them unexpected design details, along with comfort at a reasonable weight. As our line continues to grow, we are focused on maintaining a simple, straightforward way of identifying our products while also improving our position on the shelf. With this refresh, sales staff and customers will have a improved experience choosing the best pad for their needs,” said Brent Merriam, VP of Sales.
