NEMO Equipment, Inc., manufacturer of AirSupportedâ„¢ and Extreme Conditions Tents, sleeping pads and backcountry accessories, has won Gear Junkie’s Best in Show award for its new ultralight sleeping pad, Zorâ„¢, at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City.

Expanding on the successful launch of its Tuo™ series of inflatable sleeping pads in 2009, NEMO continues to increase its offerings with modular sleep systems like the Fillo backcountry pillow, Cosmo™ Air – an inflatable pad with a built-in foot pump and accessory Pillowtop™, insulated air pads, and the new ultralight air and foam pad, Zor™.

Developed for the minimalist explorer, Zorâ„¢ provides the optimal combination of weight and insulation with NEMO’s proprietary design. The lightweight foam in Zorâ„¢ is cored vertically and horizontally reducing mass, but maintaining a layer of insulation throughout the entire area of the pad, keeping the user protected and comfortable. Coupled with NEMO’s 20D AirlockEliteâ„¢ polyester fabric, Zorâ„¢ Standard weighs a remarkable 14 oz. (405 g) and Zorâ„¢ Short, 10 oz. (285 g).

“NEMO continues to impress with product innovation,” said Stephen Regenold, founder and editor of GearJunkie.com. “The Zorâ„¢ pad was a stand-out product at the OR Show this year — lightweight, highly packable, and very cool.”
“Not willing to compromise our commitment to comfort, quality and performance, we’ve been patiently and methodically pursuing the rank of ‘lightest on the market,” said Cam Brensinger, NEMO’s president. “Our latest materials, particularly our fabrics, are achieving remarkable properties at much lower weights and it’s changing the whole paradigm of how much space, warmth, waterproofness and longevity we can get out of every ounce. Zorâ„¢ is a great example of where superlight NEMO gear is headed—the same standard of performance with much less weight.”

The Zorâ„¢ series is part of NEMO’s new 2011 product line and will be available through retailers and NEMO’s website this Spring.
