NEMO’s Losi 3Pâ„¢ is the recipient of the prestigious 2009 Gear of the Year award from Outside Magazine. It’s been a good year for Losi 3Pâ„¢ — this award follows its recent recognition as Best All-Around 3 Person Tent from Backpacker Magazine in their 2009 Gear Guide.
“In the field, the Losi 3P was rock-solid,†says Outside Magazine Buyer’s Guide Sam Moulton. “It easily weathered 30 mph gusts along the Missouri River. Setting it up is a snap, too, thanks to the Jake’s Foot anchoring system. But what most impressed testers was its amazing space-to-weight ratio. It’s as roomy as a Superdome—we gathered six people around a topo map without anyone hunching over—and it still weighs under six pounds.â€
Outside’s Gear of the Year, announced in its biannual Buyer’s Guide, is one of the industry’s most prestigious and coveted honors. The Buyer’s Guide highlights the very best in adventure gear, from sports equipment, tools, and gadgets to footwear, outerwear, and sunglasses. After six months of field-testing thousands of products, the Outside staff has chosen 349 products that it deems the best of the best. Cumulatively, testers spent several months in the backcountry testing this year’s top sleeping bags, tents, shells, trail shoes, and packs in more than a dozen states. Over 50 tents were considered for testing in this year’s Buyer’s Guide.
“In 2007, our Losi 2Pâ„¢ was highlighted among 10 tents in Outside’s Buyer’s Guide. We are very proud to be back in Outside this year winning the Gear of the Year award for Losi 3Pâ„¢. We set out to design a 3 person tent that provided the greatest amount of space, features and comfort in a package weighing less than 2 lbs per person. Losi 3Pâ„¢ accomplished that mission. Now, we have a list of new objectives and we hope to meet with similar success again in the future,†said NEMO president and founder, Cam Brensinger.
Outside Magazine’s Summer 2009 Buyer’s Guide will be on newsstands April 29th.
