In just 2 days, the 2014 SIA Snow Show (Jan. 30-Feb. 2) will gather approximately 20,000 snow sports professionals from across the globe including suppliers, retailers, reps, top athletes and media to Denver’s Colorado Convention Center. Featuring over 1,000 brands, the annual Snow Show is the largest gathering dedicated exclusively to snow sports.

Now in its 5th year, the SIA/SOS Hockey Shootout is set to go down on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at the Pepsi Center following the Colorado Avalanche/Minnesota Wild game. The Avalanche is offering discounted tickets for all SIA/SOS supporters and $5 from each ticket purchase will go back to SOS. Co-hosted by Active Interest Media,Never Summer Industries and 686, the ultra-competitive Shootout game benefiting SOS Outreach, will feature snowboard/ski industry heads from U.S. and Canada, plus NHL alumni ready to square off before the Show.
The Show’s Opening Ceremony/Sendoff to Sochi will bring together Denver officials, U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team reps, SIA Board Members and thousands of industry members to celebrate the upcoming Olympic Winter Games and officially kick off the Snow Show. To be held in the Colorado Convention Center’s Atrium Lobby at 8:30AM. Past Olympian, Doug Lewis, will mc the event and unveil the official Olympic uniforms.
“There is no way to recreate those first steps into the Convention Center on the opening morning of the Show. The vibe is tremendous as the anticipation and excitement builds throughout the day. The kick-off to the buying season is always a breath of fresh air,” said Todd Atkinson, Buchika’s Ski & Bike, Salem, NH.
A new area entitled CRAFT @ SIA will make its debut on the Show floor. Dedicated to the unsung hero of the snow sports world – small, handcrafted ski and snowboard manufacturers – dozens of ski and snowboard brands will be featured in the new CRAFT exhibit area.
Following Day One, SIA will host a special screening of the critically acclaimed documentary THE CRASH REEL.Free and open to the public, the movie will be shown in the Colorado Convention Center’s Mile High Ballroom at 6PM on Thursday, Jan 30. Kevin Pearce and his brother Adam will take questions from the audience following the movie. SIA will also give away copies of THE CRASH REEL DVD to the first 100 people through the door.
The Sourcing Snowtrade showwill return for its second year showcasing over 35 top snow sports component manufacturers including performance textiles, insulation, zippers/closure systems, straps/webbing and other materials.
With global warming dominating news headlines, Snow Show attendees won’t want to miss the Protect Our Winters (POW) breakfast event Field Notes From The Climate Wars presented by Rolling Stone contributing editor, Jeff Goodell at 8:15AM on Friday, Jan. 31. POW,in partnership with SIA and Aspen Skiing Company’s Environment Foundation, will host this free breakfast presentation, open to all Snow Show attendees in the Colorado Convention Center’s Four Seasons Ballroom.
Many after-hour favs will be back includingIcelantic Skis’ Winter on the Rocks. Now in its third year, this year’s concert will feature Jurassic 5 and Ghostland Observatory on Fri, Jan 31, at 7PM. And the 15th annual TransWorld SNOWboarding Riders’ Poll Awards is scheduled for Fri, Jan. 31 at Denver’s Odgen Theatre, where the best riders, video parts and performances of the year are voted on and honored by over 100 snowboarding’s biggest pro riders.

The Backcountry Experience exhibit will host safety seminars, expert appearances, panel discussions and daily happy hours. Featuring over 50 brands, the Backcountry Experience will offer up an interactive space for learning, sharing knowledge, discussions and socializing with other backcountry enthusiasts.
Rental World/Backshop and Uniform Gallery, presented by SAM Magazine, will feature 50+ brands and give buyers a focused look at the specialty backshop and rental shop. The exhibit will host seminars as well as a reception on Friday evening sponsored by SAM, SIA and Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month.

During the Show, the industry’s best and brightest will be honored at many award ceremonies including the Doc DesRoches Award, on Feb. 1, where SIA and the U.S. Ski Team honor a SIA Member and Team supplier for its promotion of the Team’s brand and athletes. SIA will also recognize U.S./Canadian specialty retailers and sales reps at the SIA Snow Sports Awards on Friday, Jan. 31, 6PM in the Snow Show’s Colorado Ski Country USA Food Court & Lounge.
OIWC’s Keynote Presentation & Leadership Awardswill be held on Sat, Feb. 1, 7-9AM in the Colorado Convention Center’s Mile High Ballroom. During the breakfast, OIWC will announce winners of the 2014 Pioneering Woman and First Ascent Awards and host a panel discussion entitled The Money Stash: Uncovering the Economic Future of the Snow.
Following the Snow Show, the industry will pack-up and head out to the On-Snow Demo/Ski-Ride Fest at its new location Copper Mountain (Feb. 4-5). Hosted in-conjunction with the Western Winter Sports Reps Association’s (WWSRA) Rocky Mountain Demo and in partnership with Cross Country Ski Areas Association (CCSAA) the two-day Demo, allows snow sports retailers and media to hit the slopes and trails to test next season’s ski, snowboard, AT, backcountry, and cross-country products.
“SIA continues to be the best place to see everything and show the entire line. SIA has hands down been our biggest ally. It is also great to shred after the show, the show being in Denver,” said Josh Walker, brand manager, Bern Unlimited.
During the Demo, the annual Uphill/Downhill Challenge will bring together “the weak, strong and the thirsty“ and raise money for the US Ski Mountaineering Team.The Nordic Demo, also being held at Copper Mountain on February 4-5, will include an opening reception and state of the market presentation on Sunday, Feb 3, plus an après party and Nordic-focused events and seminars throughout the Demo.
