New Elliptical Cross Trainers
Revolutionize Upper-Body Motion
Converging Arms on Q37 Series Perfect Workouts
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. – August 3, 2006 – Octane Fitness, a leading manufacturer of multiple award-winning, premium elliptical cross trainers, has continued transforming this popular category of machines with the launch of the unparalleled Q37 Series for home use.
“Octane is passionately committed to building better elliptical workouts,†said Tim Porth, executive vice president of product development and marketing for Octane Fitness. “We’ve precisely designed and refined our lower-body motion, created electronics that fuel exercise and now deliver unprecedented, superior upper-body movement using Converging Path technology.â€
Raising the Bar
Unlike anything available today, the breakthrough, patent-pending Converging Path handlebars on the Q37 Series replicate the natural path of the upper body when striding on an elliptical. Rather than force the arms into a rigid, straight, back and forth swing, converging handlebars move inward at an angle as the exerciser presses forward, just as one’s arms naturally move toward the midline when walking, jogging or running. Then they comfortably open by the same amount on the backswing, again replicating natural movement.
Similar to the popular converging motion on premium strength training machines, the Converging Path handlebars on the Octane Q37 Series feel supremely natural and comfortable. By keeping the shoulders, elbows and wrists in neutral, safe positions, the handlebars minimize torque and repetitive stress that can potentially aggravate an existing injury or create a new one.
Furthermore, Converging Path handlebars offer exercisers a longer range of motion for greater muscle involvement and more effective use of the upper body. Plus, exercisers using are required to recruit their core muscles, which helps to build stability and balance as well as drive all physical activity.
As a bonus, Converging Path gives users more open access to the elliptical’s display console, simplifying programming, changes on the fly or grabbing a water bottle.
Converging Path arms are further enhanced by the company’s proprietary MultiGrip handlebars, which utilize a one-of-a-kind shape to enable exercisers to take advantage of a variety of handle positions—overhand, low, wide and narrow—that facilitate superior comfort variety and effectiveness, in addition to custom-fitting each individual.
Together, Converging Path and MultiGrip encourage exercisers to fully engage the upper-body during elliptical exercise to reap the benefits of efficient, true total-body exercise.
Building Better Workouts
For the lower-body, the Q37 Series boasts Octane’s exclusive Body-Mapping Ergonomics and patented QuadLink drive that deliver exact inertia and smooth, fluid motion to replicate movements like walking, jogging and running. Plus, Octane has narrowed the space between the pedals to 1.8â€â€”the closest in the industry—to maximize comfort and virtually eliminate potential back stress. The machine’s step-up height also has been lowered for greater ease in getting on and off, ideally for senior or rehabilitating users.
To keep users fueled, Octane has refined its trademark, innovative workouts, including ArmBlaster that alternates steady resistance with intense upper-body intervals; on the Q37e and Q37ce models, exercisers now can customize resistance levels and number of repetitions. Also, now customizable are the unique X-Mode that requires exercisers to push or pull with their arms,
squat, go in reverse and more—like a virtual personal trainer, along with the rigorous GluteKicker that targets the hips, glutes and thighs.
Heart rate monitoring is offered on the Q37e models via wireless telemetry using a chest strap; on the Q37ce model, telemetry and digital contact hand sensors are included.
For extra safety, the unmatched MOM Mode disables the console buttons and restricts movement of the pedals and handlebars so that young children cannot engage moving parts.
The Q37 Series will be available by September 2006 in specialty fitness retail stores worldwide. The Q37 has a manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) of $2,299; the Q37e, $2,699; and the Q37ce, $2,899.
