Boulder, Colo.– Salewa, the leading international mountain sports brand born and bred in the Italian Dolomites, introduces two new hiking shoes with hybrid features to provide the necessary performance, agility, ground control and comfort to tackle rough and rocky terrain in wet and muddy conditions through the fall season and into the winter.
The new Ultra Flex Mid GTX® shoesfor men is a hybrid mid-cut design that merges the ankle support and weather protection of a hiking boot with the lightweight agility and grip of a trainer. It features a breathable mesh integrated in the upper and lower body of the shoe with the patented SALEWA Flex Collar, which allows 20% more rear ankle flexion for faster movement and more comfort on descents.
Underfoot, the shoe is equipped with a MICHELIN® Technical Sole system developed for traction and stability on different terrain to enable a fast rolling transition along the foot from heel-strike to toe-off. In addition to impressive abrasion-resistance from the MICHELIN® Outdoor Compound found in the soles, they also have special grooves, sculptures and tread blocks placed at specific areas to provide excellent stability, slope-crossing traction, adaptability and fast movement on hard-packed terrain.
Inside the shoe, the GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort lining provides reliable protection from rain and mud and excellent breathability. More features include SALEWA’s patented 3F System for flexibility, support and a blister-free fit, rand protection, an OrthoLite® footbed for lightweight, long-term cushioning and moisture management and Quick Lacing for easy adjustment.
For women, Salewa introduces the new Alpenrose Ultra Mid GTX®, top-rated among Salewa’s standards for cushioning. Designed for lightweight hiking without compromising the right amount of support, performance and versatility to take on any mixed mountain terrain in warmth, comfort and stability. Similar to the Men’s Ultra Flex Mid GTX®, the Alpenrose also includes the Michelin Ultra Train outsole, GORE-TEX Extended comfort lining, OrthoLite® footbed. Unique to the women’s Alpenrose is more coated fabric on the breathable mesh, a different collar design and a lacing system for enhanced stability.
Both new footwear options will be available at retail in July 2017 and on display at ORWM at booth #36073 each in two color variations, and will complete the Salewa Speed hiking line-up, which already includes the successful Ultra Train, Lite Train and Multi Track models.
