Montreal, Canada (October 19, 2021) – AKU, the Italian footwear brand designing and producing highly technical and comfortable, hand-crafted hiking boots for more than 50 years, is pleased to announce that Parallel 45 Sales Group has been retained as its new sales team partner. Supporting the Midwest and Great Lakes territories, Parallel 45 President Doug Scott will be leading the agency’s efforts for AKU.
Scott has spent nearly two decades in the outdoor industry. Initially as a Guide, then managing retail followed by sales for Patagonia, he has spent the last 10 years working with both specialty and major manufacturers. Scott founded Parallel 45 out of the belief that organizations can be successful by focusing on more than just sales, and manufacturers and retail stores are more than just their products.
“We did indeed find many ‘parallels’ with Parallel 45 and the AKU brand and are happy to bring them on as partners. Doug is really focused on building meaningful relationships and connecting people as communities, and that’s how we aim to relate to not only our customers but also our retail partners – in deeper ways around sharing our passions and purpose,” said Canice Harte, vice president, sales and marketing, AKU Outdoor. “We see his territories in the Midwest as key elements in our auspicious growth plans for AKU in the U.S.”
Each pair of footwear AKU makes incorporates technology to help its wearer get outside, explore new areas, and accomplish their goals. Through a unique insole board and tread design, its Elica system technology promotes biodynamic efficiency and optimal comfort. AKU’s exclusive DFS technology incorporates a traditional lace for maximum comfort while walking or hiking, as well as a secondary fast lace that can be activated by the wearer to increase sensitivity and precision during climbing.
