Phil Carey’s dedication to giving back to the outdoor industry is taking root before he even sells the first medical kit from newly launched Carey and Company Ltd.

Carey has already solidified partnerships with three key outdoor non-profits: the Continental Divide Trail Alliance, Leave No Trace and the Colorado Trail Foundation.

At least two of the partnerships are founded on relationships established more than a decade ago while Carey was at the helm of his first company, Atwater Carey, also a medical kits provider. Carey was one of the first corporate supporters of the CDTA.

“Phil Carey has recognized, from the beginning, the importance of this project and the need for outdoor industry leaders to lend a hand in completing the trail,” said CDTA Executive Director Bruce Ward. “Phil’s commitment goes beyond his corporate contributions to a personal interest and involvement in getting people out on the trail and supporting our annual Trailfest.”

Carey has also been a longtime supporter of Leave No Trace and stalwart friend of longtime LNT Executive Director Dana Watts. “The Leave No Trace program depends on the support and dedication of organizations like Carey & Co. Phil Carey has been a tremendous supporter of Leave No Trace for more than a decade and clearly understands the importance or supporting and promoting outdoor skills, ethics and active stewardship of the outdoors. By learning to reduce our impact on the outdoors, we can help to successfully preserve the future integrity of our shared natural lands. Carey & Co embraces this philosophy and continues to be a lead supporter of the Leave No Trace movement.”

The Colorado Trail Foundation is new to Carey’s roster of sponsored organizations, chosen, in part, because the organization nearly literally hits home for Carey, who lives and works mere minutes away from both the Colorado and Continental Divide Trail as they pass through his small mountain town home and headquarters in south central Colorado.

Founded in 2006, Carey and Co. manufactures outdoor first aid, health and safety products. At the upcoming Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, Carey will introduce a line of 12 new first aid and medical kits ranging from single day use to international travel and expeditionary use ranging in price from $18 to $118 suggested retail. To see the complete line of Carey and Co. products, visit them at Outdoor Retailer Booth or call 719.539.4843 to request a catalog.
