SEATTLE, WA (November 29, 2016) — Mountain Safety Research® (MSR®), the world’s leading snowshoe manufacturer and maker of many pinnacle products for outdoor adventurers, takes snowshoe design a giant step forward with the introduction of the DTX Crampon.
Available on the all-terrain 2017 Lighting™ Ascent and Revo™ Ascent snowshoes for mountaineering approaches and winter backpacking, the DTX crampon is 26 percent thicker than its predecessor resulting in an increased life span. In addition to offering improved durability and strength, the new design provides security and control, and superior responsiveness on icy to deep snow conditions.
Both the Lightning Ascent and Revo Ascent snowshoes are designed to be packable for easy transport and feature ultra-secure PosiLock™ AT Bindings for aggressive ascents and all-terrain stability. An efficient Ergo™ Televator can be flipped up into position to elevate the heel for steeper climbs.
The Lightning frames are built with 360° traction that delivers edge-to-edge grip and with the updated DTX Crampons, better distribution of force for more continuous snow contact—delivering unmatched traction on any terrain, in any conditions.
Further updates to the MSR snowshoe line include refined designs of the proprietary HyperLink™ bindings on the Explore series. The Lightning Explore and Revo Explore snowshoes now offer a macro-adjustment strap to better center the foot and accommodate a wider range of boot sizes. Ratchet design updates ensure faster and easier adjustments, while EVA foam within the binding’s boot cradle eliminates pressure points ensuring all day comfort.
All 2017 models continue to offer modular benefits where 5-inch tail extensions may be added for extra float or when you’re carrying extra weight. The full line will showcase at the Winter Outdoor Retailer trade show in Salt Lake City this January, 2017.
Lightning Ascent The ultralight Lightning Ascent snowshoes are built for mountaineering. The all new DTX Crampons increase durability and will stand up to challenging terrain due to the continuous martensite steel and thicker construction. In addition, our advanced 360° Traction™ frames deliver a level of security tubular frames simply can’t—especially on traverses. The dual-component PosiLock™ AT bindings offer our most secure attachment, while aggressive steel cross members and easily engaged Ergo™ Televators back you up with every step. And like all of our snowshoes, Lightning Ascents offer the all-condition adaptability of our Modular Flotation tails. MSRP $299.95 | |
