Denver, Colo – Big City Mountaineers (BCM) and the Association for Experiential Education (AEE) have more in common than homes along the Front Range. The two organizations are working together to challenge people to use the outdoors to learn to be more in touch with others and the planet.
A few important efforts between the organizations are underway.
1.) AEE and BCM are teaming up during National Get Outdoors Day in Denver’s City Park Saturday, June 12, 2010. AEE and BCM will offer experiential activities out of a shared space and everyone is invited to attend: http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/go-day/
The event brings together companies, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to encourage kids and their families to participate in healthy, active outdoor activities. It will reach out to segments of our population that now rarely visit and benefit from our network of public lands and waters.
2.) Point6 LLC has made a generous in-kind donation of quality wool knee-high women’s socks for AEE member programs in need.
AEE will distribute 275 pairs of socks (worth $20 each) to support the young women on BCM’s Go and Relate expeditions. Participating teens come to BCM’s program with virtually no clothing appropriate for the outdoors and true backcountry experiences, where quality material for either wicking or warmth is crucial for their comfort and safety.
AEE and BCM thank Point6 for their generous in-kind donation that gives them the opportunity to transform the world into a better place.
