New Ski Manufacturer Wins 2011 Performance Tests – Including Ski of the Year Award

Ski Logik’s unusual introductory line of skis comes in first in performance, winning awards from Freeskier Magazine and Realskiers

Breckenridge, Colorado, September 14, 2010: Ski Logik, a new ski manufacturer of exceptional, technical and custom skis, is winning awards and recognition with the debut line of skis. Introduced at the SIA Show in January, Ski Logik gained immediate attention with the beautiful wood and artwork on their skis, but the real accolades came when users got the chance to ski on them.

Freeskier Magazine’s on-snow test of 30 brands has just been released and newcomer Ski Logik’s Howitzer model had higher scores than all skis in the All Mountain, Big Mountain, and Powder Categories.

Realskiers, the online site that accepts no advertising and serves as a consumer advocate to skiers, had an even higher view of the skis. In its review of 286 skis this year, Ski Logik’s Ullr’s Chariot model was just announced to be the 2011 Overall Ski of the Year. “This may be the ski no one ever thought could be made,” writes Peter Keelty, ski coach and author of ski instruction books. The Goddess, a women’s specific ski, also received near-perfect scores.

About Ski Logik
Veteran ski maker David Mazzarella founded Ski Logik after he moved with his wife and kids to Hainan Island in the South China Sea. “I had always wanted to make the best skis in the world, but my work as a ski maker had hit a wall. We couldn’t afford to put as much labor into each pair in Colorado, and it’s not possible to make skis like this with mass-production and far too complicated to outsource. I had a vision where to take my ski making but no factory that could do it. We traveled together as a family to look for a location and we chose a tropical island – I guess we wanted the opposite of home in Breckenridge, Colorado and found it.”

The art on each pair is done by David’s wife and artist, Mariella, who makes each pair a unique work of art featuring wood veneer inlay and mother of pearl. Custom skis are and option for size, art and skier style. Ski Logik has 35 employees and makes just ten pairs per day. The company has been recognized for its socially responsible labor practices and environmentalism. www.skilogik.com.
