Outdoor Research Spring 2014 Hats & Gloves: Handbrake Gloves, Chroma Full Sun Gloves, Ignitor Beanie, Ghost Rain Hat

SEATTLE, Wash. – Whether it’s combating sun, rain, warmth or cold, Outdoor Research has long been a leader in hats and gloves with feature sets that lead the way in their respective categories. For Spring 2014, Outdoor Research continues to pioneer in both categories with new styles for climbing, hiking, trail running and other endurance sports, along with a number of new Mountain Life headwear styles designed to set the bar in casual appeal.

Handbrake Gloves – Built for overtime belay work, the Handbrake Gloves will answer the call for duty year after year. Constructed with durable cow leather with split suede overlays in high-wear areas, the Handbrake gloves feature half-finger coverage for dexterity, as well as integrated RF-welded knuckle protection. Finer points include neoprene cuffs, a carabiner loop, and pull tabs on the fingertips so they’re easy to get on and off. $39.50.

Chroma Full Sun Gloves – Guard against the beating sun on a trail run or a hike with the UPF 50+ protection of the Chroma Full Sun Gloves. A breathable polyester fabric on the back of hand dries quickly and helps move moisture, while perforated synthetic leather on the palm ensures a solid grip and effective venting. $32.50.

Ghost Rain Hat – The classic Outback-inspired look of the Ghost Rain Hat is always in style, but its look belies just how functional this hat is. A rain hat made with Gore-Tex construction, this lid has a removable crown that morphs it into a sun hat with a breathable mesh upper when clouds give way to bluebird. The removable top stuffs into a low-profile pocket behind the crown for convenient, low-profile storage. The brim is moldable thanks to an internal wire. $78.

Rainbreak Spring Ring Hat – An excellent travel or backpacking companion because of how small it packs up, the Rainbreak Spring Ring hat folds into itself with a simple twist of an internal wire ring, but provides fully waterproof/breathable protection when needed. This bucket-style hat is made with waterproof-breathable Pertex Shield fabric. $50.

Sunbreak Spring Ring Hat – A traditional bucket hat that helps ward off the mid-day sun with its UPF 30+ protection, the Springbreak Spring Ring Hat is also highly packable thanks to an internal wire ring that lets fold into itself with a simple twist. $42.

Ignitor Beanie – Super lightweight and quick drying, the micro-polyester Ignitor Beanie provides just the right amount of protection for cool morning starts on the rock or trail. Its extremely small size means you can tuck it into a small pocket or top of a pack, and it won’t weigh you down. $19.

Firetower Cap – Cruising down to the local brewery on your fixie after a day at the crag can only be made better by doing it in a good-looking, comfy cap. This cadet-style cap, with its TransAction headband, helps wick moisture, while a foldable brim lets it pack up the size of an apple. $30.

Azores Bucket – Bask in the sun while staying protected under this UPF 50, 100-percent cotton ripstop bucket-style cap. A detachable, adjustable chin cord helps stability in case of high winds, while a mesh nylon band provides added breathability around the sides. $30.

Katie Cap – A women’s cadet-style cap, the Katie Cap is ideal for everything from adventure travel where you need sun protection with style to staying covered up at the local crag. Each color in this fun, stylish cap has its own unique fabrication, making it easy to accessorize. $30.

Gin Joint Fedora / Billet Fedora – Grab the 100 percent cotton twill Gin Joint Fedora to dress it up for a night out in a mountain town. The Billet Fedora is well suited for both a night out or a relaxed hike. And afterward, feel free to reward yourself using the detachable bottle opener. $32, $39.

About Outdoor Research
Outdoor Research® is Designed by Adventure®. We provide Innovation and Inspiration for the Relentless Adventurer. Based in Seattle – with in-house manufacturing and prototyping capabilities at our company headquarters – Outdoor Research was founded in 1981 after a failed piece of gear on an Alaskan climbing expedition inspired ideas for a better design. Ever since that first product, the X-Gaiter, put Outdoor Research on the map, we have been dedicated to building better outdoor apparel, gloves, hats and an array of other outdoor accessories informed by real-world testing. We develop innovative, functional, bomb-proof products that are beautiful in their simplicity. Design abides by the maxim ‘make it better, not just new or different,’ and our gear is backed by our Infinite Guarantee®. We listen to, value and empower each other and our fellow adventurers – we invite input from our customers, athlete ambassadors and the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations Test Team. We’re independent, letting us strive to provide the best value to our customers, not shareholders. We are committed to our core sports: alpinism, rock and ice climbing, hiking, backpacking, paddling, trail running, and skiing and snowboarding. We’re growing, as a company and as individuals. And we’re having fun along the way.
