New Yakima Website Makes Rack Research Easy and Mobile

The new site is designed to be a premier destination for rack and cargo carrier research, thanks to its robust integrated tools, thoughtful design and mobile-first strategy. It also lays the foundation for omni-commerce efforts to support the company’s retailer partners.

“Yakima’s mission, first and foremost, is making life easier for our consumer, and this extends through the entire process, from rack research to installation to use. With this new design and tools, we’ve simplified the process to make it easy to find the exact products to fit their vehicle and lifestyle,” said Jenna Fallon, Digital Director at Yakima.

Added Fallon, “We know that 80 percent of consumers do their research on their smart phones before going into a store, so having the site be mobile friendly was one of our key drivers,” said Fallon. “We also wanted to provide our retailers with a new digital experience that they could use to support their sales.”

Yakima.com is designed for all levels of consumers, from novice to expert. The new format allows visitors to research and shop four different ways: by vehicle through the “Fit My Car” rack-finder; by outdoor activity; by gear placement on the vehicle and by product type. The “Fit My Car” application can also be used by Yakima retailers and embedded within their sites.

Thanks to numerous new how-to videos, the website also engages consumers on how easy it is to install the various Yakima products, from roof racks to rear of car bike racks. The new tools and design are wrapped in Yakima’s new brand language and imagery, which makes it as fun and eye-catching as it is functional.
