North American Handmade Bicycle Show Kicks Off Today in Sacramento!
Today through Sunday NAHBS showcases many of the world’s best handmade bicycles
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – The North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS), the premier venue and showcase for the craft-built bicycle market, kicks off today at the Sacramento Convention Center. The show is open to the public today 10-6, Saturday 10-6, and Sunday 10-5. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
With over 150 exhibitors and hundreds of attendees pre-registered for the show, NAHBS is shaping up to be the most well-attended show in its 12-year history. Organizers think it could break its previous attendance record from the last time it was in Sacramento in 2012.
Offering a wide variety of hand-crafted bicycles, accessories, and apparel, NAHBS has something for anyone from die-hard cycling fanatics to those just curious about a unique industry focused on craftsmanship.
“Each year, my team and I put countless hours of hard work into making this show a reality so we’re very excited to see all of our efforts come to fruition,” says Don Walker, Founder and President of NAHBS. “I love hosting a platform for independent frame builders from around the world to come together and showcase their creations.”
NAHBS works to create an engaging atmosphere and will be hosting a variety of special events and seminars during the show. In one of the more exciting offerings, Nelson Vails, the first and still only African-American cyclist to win an Olympic medal, will preside over five screenings of the film about his life, Cheetah – The Nelson Vails Story (view trailer HERE).
There will also be NAHBS Group Rides each morning at 7am before the show, and nearby Mike’s Bikes will host a “Go Ride with Nelly” event on Sunday at 8:45 where riders can spin along with the legend himself!
Each year, the NAHBS Awards highlight those builders who go the extra mile to create bikes that truly stand out from the rest and best embody the artisanal nature of NAHBS, and 2016 is no exception. Almost 20 different awards will be handed out during the show, including Best Road Bike, Best Mountain Bike, President’s Choice, and People’s Choice. Judging will happen on Friday with awards handed out Saturday and Sunday.
