NORTHSIDE PARTNERS WITH ORGANIZATIONS TO PRESERVE OUTDOORS FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS
The Washington State-Based Family Footwear Company is making contributions to National Park Trust and American Rivers for 2017 campaigns
MARYSVILLE, Wash. (January 9, 2017) – Northside, the Washington state-based family footwear company, is excited to announce its partnerships in 2017, including the National Park Trust and American Rivers, two like-minded organizations who are dedicated to helping protect parks and rivers for future generations. The announcement comes just ahead of January’s Outdoor Retailer Winter Market Show in Salt Lake City, where Northside will showcase its latest collection of outdoor footwear for kids and adults alike.
“We partnered with these organizations because like Northside, they are passionate about the outdoors, including preserving lands for future generations,” said Jack Wolfin, President of Triple T Trading, which owns Northside. “While we take pride in providing approachable, outdoor footwear, we also want to do more for those that enjoy the outdoors, and that includes making sure future families have access to our beautiful lands.”
National Park Trust: As Northside has long been a provider of affordable kids footwear, the partnership with National Park Trust’s Kids to Parks Day effort was an ideal fit. Northside will donate to Kids to Parks School Contest campaign, a program designed to help schools without the budget to bus students to parks in an effort to get kids outside to play. To be eligible, students must complete a two-page entry form detailing how their outdoor trips will be educational, how the trip will promote health, and what activities they will participate in – culminating on Kids to Parks Day, Saturday, May 20, 2017. In 2016’s effort, 731,000 people participated in 1,110 park events around the country. 4,300 students from 27 different states were awarded scholarships.
American Rivers is focused on spreading the word about rivers throughout the country via its 5,000 Miles of Wild campaign. The goal of the campaign is to add 5,000 additional river miles to the protected status offered by the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, which is celebrating its the 50th anniversary in 2018. American Rivers, Northside, and other partners will all help raise awareness by prompting 5,000 crowd-sourced stories – testimonials, photos, videos, essays and movies. American Rivers believes telling and sharing a large number of heartfelt river stories will send a clear message to decision-makers that rivers are worth saving.
