Moscow, ID – NRS was recently awarded a Gear of the Year Award from Outside Magazine for the Expedition E-132D inflatable raft. The award appears in the upcoming 2009 Outside Buyer’s Guide issue on newsstands April 29.
The NRS E-132D’s tubes diminish towards the bow and stern of the boat. This creates large front and rear compartments, giving significantly more cargo space than a traditional round tube design. It’s built with less kick, or rise, in the bow and stern than other NRS designs. The E-132D is an ideal paddle raft – the guide can dig off the stern easier, the paddlers at the bow get a much wetter ride and the boat itself cuts through waves with ease. Bill Parks, Founder and Owner of NRS, added “We’ve had a lot of success with this design, notably with Southeastern US outfitters running narrow rivers. The kick is reduced but not enough that the boat won’t drop off ledges with ease.â€
The “E†Series Rafts are built for those who habitually venture out to battle the sharpest rocks, swiftest currents and generally ugliest conditions. NRS offers a 10-year limited warranty on these tough boats. The features of the “E†Series include extra heavy-duty floor and tubes constructed with 1670 denier/48 oz Hypalon®, an additional wide swath of commercial-grade HD-40 floor armor and a four-chamber tube construction. All NRS inflatables use trouble-free Leafield™ valves. NRS assembles the “E†Series, Otter Series and Sport Series Catarafts in an NRS-owned factory in Tecate, Mexico.
