Columbus, OH (August 16th, 2018)– O2 Natural Recovery, a rapidly growing clean recovery drink that helps the body process toxins and recover faster from strenuous activity, introduces two new caffeine-free flavors, Lemon Lime and Blackberry Currant. These flavors are based on the same science as the two original flavors launched in 2014. O2 is a high-performance, clean sports recovery drink that hydrates, energizes and helps the body process toxins because it has 7x more oxygen than regular water.
Founded in Columbus, OH in 2014, O2 was created by a CrossFit trainer and a medical doctor who were disappointed with unhealthy artificial ingredients in common energy and sports drinks on the market. The result was a non-carbonated, highly oxygenated beverage that had 2.5x the electrolytes of leading sports drinks, 140mg of natural caffeine, and zero artificial flavors, sweeteners, and preservatives. O2 launched with two flavors, Orange Mango and Grapefruit Ginger, which quickly became popular in CrossFit gyms and also met the clean and natural standards to be carried by Whole Foods. This year, O2 has also landed in 80 Kroger stores and is the #1 and #2 items in its category. At only 20 calories per full 16 oz. can, the refreshing and delicious drink has only 2g of organic sugar.
The science behind O2 is rooted in the ability of oxygenated water to help the body, specifically the liver, process toxins and recover faster. Several medical studies reveal up to a 60% increase in the rate the liver can process toxins as a result of consuming oxygenated liquids such as O2. While this insight is common knowledge in the medical field, O2 is the first and only sports recovery drink to incorporate it for an athlete’s recovery advantage. O2’s liquid volume and electrolyte ratio is modeled on the simple yet effective IV – the gold standard for hydration in medicine. O2’s caffeinated line adds natural caffeine from green coffee beans for gradual absorption with sustained energy, rather than the quick cycle of jitters and crashes of other beverages. The non-caffeinated line has zero caffeine or stimulants.
“We were thrilled with the response to our initial flavors and how they helped athletes hydrate, perform, and recover faster,” said Dave Colina, Founder and CEO of O2 Natural Recovery. “We launched the Caffeine-Free Lemon Lime and Blackberry Currant as a direct response to customer demand for an O2 that they could have late in the day, or for O2 drinkers looking for something to offer their kids. So far, the response has been incredible, and we look forward to educating more active audiences and health-conscious retailers on the benefits of our clean product.”
Caffeine Free O2 made its debut at the 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games®held early August in Madison, Wisconsin. Colina adds, “The response was overwhelming. We heard several times that O2 was the best-tasting product at the Games, and our athletes competing had a steady supply of O2 to fuel them throughout the week. Being non-carbonated is a huge advantage for people working hard at the gym.”
O2 can be purchased online at www.drinkO2.com and in select Whole Foods, Kroger stores, and select specialty retailers, alongside many CrossFit gyms and fitness studios throughout the country. The variety four-pack retails for $13.99 or individual flavors can be purchased in cases of 12 for $41.99, with free shipping. The company is also preparing for aggressive expansion within the boutique functional fitness market and select national grocery retailers in 2019.
