BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. – Oct. 17, 2008 – Octane Fitness, LLC, a leading brand of multiple award-winning, premium elliptical cross trainers, now offers its unprecedented xRide seated elliptical to commercial health clubs, thereby broadening exercise choices for everyone from beginners to elite athletes.
“The demand for the xRide has been incredible,†said Tim Porth, executive vice president of product development and marketing for Octane Fitness, “and we are confident that customers and fitness centers worldwide will get tremendous mileage from this unique machine.â€
In a Class of Its Own
The ultimate advantage of the xRide is that it delivers the benefits of a standing elliptical – total-body, low-impact cardiovascular workouts – from a comfortable seated position. Its elliptical power stroke provides a greater range of motion and increased glute activity than that experienced on recumbent bikes. Plus, pedaling forward or in reverse adds variety and different muscle activity, and the upper body is fully utilized with the ergonomically designed, proprietary MultiGrip handlebars.
Exercisers can choose to engage the upper and lower body simultaneously, the lower body alone by holding the stationary handlebars or the upper body only by resting their feet on the stationary foot pegs.
Unique to the xRide is the Active Seat Position, set at a 45-degree angle to open the hips and torso for greater muscular activity as well as to create comfort and support for exercisers of all sizes. Leverage from the seat also equips xRide users to perform muscular endurance strength training with an iso-lateral leg press or iso-lateral chest press for even more exercise efficiency and toning benefits.
In fact, scientific research shows that the xRide yields better workouts: compared to riding a recumbent bike, xRide users had 343% more glute activity and burned 23% more calories at the same perceived exertion level.
Valuable Versatility
Distinct from any other single cardiovascular machine, the xRide accommodates virtually every health club member – from the deconditioned or rehabilitating to competitive athletes – with 30 resistance levels and numerous innovative workouts that yield leisurely regimens to all-out challenges.
The unique Muscle Endurance routine prompts exercisers to push and pull, pedal fast, go in reverse, and more for cross training variety. The Chest Press and Leg Press strength-training workouts break up cardiovascular sessions with intense intervals of 10-15 repetitions at high resistance levels.
Comfort comes in the form of an ergonomically designed seat with back support, adjustable seat height and tilt, step-through design, soft grip pedals and fingertip controls on the stationary handlebars.
Built for ease of ownership in health clubs, the commercial xRide (xR6000 model) is self-powered and has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $4,899. Octane Fitness ellipticals are used in some of the largest health clubs in the world, including 24 Hour Fitness, Equinox, LifeTime Fitness, Gold’s Gym and YMCAs, in addition to numerous training facilities for professional and collegiate athletic teams.
