Outdoor Industry Association and Piper Jaffray Seeking Industry Participation in Economic Confidence Survey
BOULDER, CO, January 26, 2010 – Results from the fall 2009 Outdoor Industry Association® (OIA) / Piper Jaffray Outdoor Industry Survey, completed in October, revealed that industry members continued to be both cautious and realistic about the economic situation facing the industry. When asked to indicate the level of concern surrounding current economic conditions affecting their business, a majority indicated they were “very concerned.” However, small businesses did report that their revenue expectations were up sharply for 2010.
So, will their optimism continue through the first quarter? OIA and Piper Jaffray & CO (PJC) are seeking industry participation in a brief survey, which will allow PJC to gather and aggregate this critical economic data to share with industry members. This information will provide real time data about how industry leaders view the macroeconomic environment and the overall health of the outdoor market.
“The data collected in this survey is critically important information for our entire industry and OIA urges all industry members to participate,” commented Frank Hugelmeyer, president and CEO of OIA.
The survey is available online through Wednesday, February 10. A report highlighting key takeaways will be posted on the OIA website later in the month. This survey builds on quarterly survey results collected in 2009 and Q4 2008, all of which can be found at the Research and Resources section of the OIA website.
