OIA Board Seeking Nominations for New Board Members

Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) Nominations Committee is now accepting nominations for open seats on the OIA Board. Board members represent the interests of the OIA membership and help promote the growth and success of the outdoor industry.

Serving on the OIA Board of Directors is voluntary but does require a strong commitment to the board and the industry. The following time and cost commitments are requested of OIA Board members:

-A three year board term.
-Monthly committee teleconference calls – 1 hour minimum duration.
-Attendance at three board meetings for a total of five days per year.
(One day in April in Washington D.C., two days in October prior to the Rendezvous conference, and the day before each of the two Outdoor Retailer trade events.)
-Attendance at OIA events for a total of five to seven days per year.
-Other meetings, tasks and projects as identified by your standing committee assignment.
-Travel, lodging, phone and most food expenses associated with OIA events/meetings are not covered by OIA and are the responsibility of the member-company or person.

Election Process
OIA seeks to maintain a strong, balanced, strategic-thinking Board that accurately represents the varied companies found in the outdoor industry. The Nominations Committee, made up of current OIA Board Members, is charged with presenting a slate of nominees to be voted upon by the membership.

May 11, 2007 Announce start of the nominations process
June 13, 2007 Nominations recruitment ends
June 16, 2007 Election ballots are sent to the OIA membership
July 16, 2007 Election is closed
July 25, 2007 New OIA Board Members are notified
August 8, 2007 New Board Member Orientation @ OR
August 8, 2007 OIA Board Meeting @ OR

Board Strategic Needs and Priorities
Priorities for new Board seats as identified by the 2007 Nominations Committee are:
Manufacturers (All sizes and channels)
Specialty Outdoor & Paddle Retailers
Sportsman or Sporting Goods Retailers
Independent Sales Reps


OIA is interested in candidates with the following desired attributes or skill sets:
Female and/or minority
Finance
Action Sports
Emerging Markets

Being a part of the OIA Board is a challenging yet extremely rewarding experience. Please know that a strong commitment of time and effort is required by all Board Members and is essential to the future success of the industry and the organization.
