OIA volunteer project aims to improve Dubios Park and Blanford Canyon

Rendezvous conference attendees roll up their sleeves and join together for an afternoon of service.

WHO/WHAT: Outdoor Industry Association, Washington Trails Association, and Vancouver-Clark County Parks have chosen Dubois Park and Blandford Canyon Trail as the site of the 2007 Rendezvous service project. Rendezvous conference volunteers will assist in creating trailhead and path to existing trail, new sign installation, trail brush clearing, leveling and edging, and potential playground surface rehab. Attendees represent CEOs and industry leaders from companies such as Timberland, Jansport and Thule.

The trailhead itself begins in Dubois Park, a residential area that provides close-to-home recreation opportunities for families and residents of all ages. The park encompasses 3.5 acres and Blandford Canyon trail is approximately .5 miles long.

WHEN: Friday, October 5, 2007, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

WHERE: Dubois Park and Blandford Canyon Trail (located four miles from the Vancouver Washington Hilton)

WHY: Since 1996, Outdoor Industry Association members have worked to improve hundreds of miles of trails and more than 50 facilities; providing residents and visitors with the opportunity to get outside and be active in their communities. Projects ranged from clearing brush, improving trails, installing erosion control, drainage features. Members also painted signs, participated in general park clean-up, repaired and built picnic facilities in areas as diverse as Garden of the Gods, CO, Johnson Basin Trail in Uinta National Forest, UT and McClellan Island in Chattanooga, TN.
