Omegawave is proud to introduce a revolutionary breakthrough in training for runners with the launch of Adaptive Training Plans in a new mobile offering. These training plans pair the knowledge that Omegawave gathers from a user’s biometric data with individualized voice and visual training guidance, built with expert Olympic level coaches, to offer the most appropriate workout for the individual’s current state, which allows runners to train smarter and optimize training goals.
Prior training plans, whether downloaded or provided by a coach, are static — and do not take into account the athlete’s functional readiness — but Omegawave’s Adaptive Training Plan measures your Cardiac and Central Nervous system in a quick measurement at rest. That information then determines the volume and intensity the individual is best prepared to handle for that day and a workout is recommended accordingly based on your overall goal, always making sure you achieve the best training that day with the least physiological cost.
“Omegawave has long been motivated to provide training solutions in lieu of isolated measurements, and the Adaptive Training Plans a natural extension of this mission,” said Omegawave co-founder Val Nasedkin. “This new program allows runners to not only train smarter and minimize injury and overtraining, but also get maximum results with decreased biological impact on the body.”
The Adaptive Training Plans are designed for Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced Runners, at 5k, 10k, half-marathon and marathon distances. Each plan begins with foundation building aerobic workouts, before integrating intervals and tempo work. Additionally, the plan will modify the days’ programming to more suitable volumes and intensities, or even suggest recovery-based workouts based on the individual’s biological fluctuations.
The Training Plans are designed by two esteemed coaches: Terrence Mahon, who serves as High Performance Program Coach for the Boston Athletic Association and formerly as Lead Endurance Coach for UK Athletics, and Frank Evertsen, a former coach and physiologist for Norway’s Olympic program.
Mahon, who has trained Ryan Hall, Deena Kastor and Jennifer Rhines among others, said, “We’re no longer stuck with a rigid program that doesn’t fit or adapt to the athlete’s response. Our program will have an answer each day to how you should train based on your goals and training response.”
Evertsen, who has coached Samuel Kipketer and Vivian Cheruiyot among others, said, “By using Omegawave, we are able to combine the training methodologies that are being used at the elite level with world class athletes and bring that to the general public.”
Unlike prior Omegawave products, the Adaptive Training Plans are designed to be used during exercise, offering simple easy to follow real-time feedback on speed and effort level.
Currently offered on iTunes for iOS mobile users, the Adaptive Training Plans are expected to be available for Android users in the near future. Both the hardware and the app and access to all the plans are available now via a subscription model of USD$24.90 a month for 12 months.
