eVent DVstorm waterproof fabric technology and innovative details offer better solutions for mountain running and Original Mountain Marathon races
AVA JACKET will be on display at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, eVent fabrics Booth 155-305, August 3-6, 2016
Lancaster England, UK and Overland Park, Kansas, USA–OMM (Original Mountain Marathon; http://www.theomm.com) and eVent fabrics (www.eventfabrics.com) are pleased to announce that OMM has won a coveted OutDoor Award at this year’s annual OutDoor trade show for its Women’s AVA JACKET, designed for mountain running. The 200-gram jacket was judged to be outstanding for its degree of innovation, functionality, weight and size when packed.
The award-winning jacket is indicative of OMM’s philosophy to design unrestricted, innovative technical clothing and equipment required for mountain running and, specifically, for the Original Mountain Marathon races that are the foundation of the OMM brand. These 2-day events are held in the wildest parts of the United Kingdom and other countries in extremely challenging conditions and terrain that tests both equipment and competitors to their limits and beyond. OMM aims to achieve the highest performance for the lowest possible weight in its products.
The OutDoor jury applauded the AVA, saying, “It’s a lightweight, minimalist running jacket. We feel it offers super functionality and has great details—especially the wrist and waist closures.”
Features of the Women’s AVA Jacket are:
· 3-layer eVent DVStorm waterproof fabric that gives outstanding weight, durability and breathability in real life conditions, whatever the weather. eVent Direct Venting™ technology is air permeable to let body heat and moisture escape quickly through the fabric.
· Unique “Active Cuff” laminated cuff closure at the wrist, with a thumb slot and Velcro closure that seals well and holds the sleeve in place
· 200 gram weight in a jacket with full features: waterproof zipper with storm flap, wired mountain hood
· Minimal seam construction saves weight; female-specific cut and fit is for active use
· OMM’s POINTZERO pocket lining fabric reduces weight by over 30% compared to standard mesh
· Dynamic Droptail gives full coverage for extra protection from the weather
“We are grateful to the OUTDOOR judging panel and the industry for recognising the hard work and innovative details we have put into the Ava Jacket,” said Alistaire MacGreggor of OMM.
The Women’s AVA Jacket, and the similar men’s Aether Jacket and Aether Smock will be available to consumers in September 2016.
About the Original Mountain Marathon races
The OMM race was first held in 1968 as a test of endurance, navigation and mountain skills in wild environments. Unsupported two-man teams visit a series of wilderness checkpoints carrying a tent, sleeping bag and everything they need to survive the mountain environment over two days of adventure. The Original Mountain Marathon races have introduced the brand into 13 countries. In 2016, a race has been held in Iceland; The iconic OMM in Scotland takes place in October and OMM Japan is scheduled for November. In 2017, the event will also be staged in the Alps. With the 50th year anniversary of the Original Mountain Marathon race in 2017, OMM has an exciting future ahead.
About eVent® fabrics and eVent membrane technology
Since 1999, eVent fabrics have set the standard for truly air permeable and waterproof membranes in textiles. The technology used to create eVent membranes was invented in the 1990s to improve the pollutant-capturing performance of air filtration systems and give superior protection to industrial machinery. eVent fabrics—found in outdoor, wintersports, cycling and professional apparel and footwear—were the first air permeable and waterproof performance fabrics on the market that let the sweat out™ through Direct Venting™ technology. CLARCOR Industrial Air manufactures eVent membranes and fabrics, collaborating with worldwide suppliers to offer a broad selection of waterproof, windproof and protective textiles to companies that create apparel, footwear, shelter and accessories.
