DENVER, COLO. (July 10, 2008) – After trips to Breckenridge’s windiest slopes, Pikes Peak’s hottest rock formations and the rivers, plains and hills in between, Optic Nerve has designed five new and updated sunglass styles for 2008-09 that are durable and functional so you can work hard and play harder without stopping to worry about your eyewear. The new Eyeque, Autovaughn and Roger That and updated Buddah and Mo Flava will all make their debut at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market.
“A big part of our philosophy is to create sunglasses that work as hard as we do,†said Tom Fox, vice president and product designer for Optic Nerve and Mountain Shades. “Whether you are a full-time athlete, a weekend warrior or just need something to combat the sun on a drive to the mountains, no one should have to spend a fortune on gear that is functional, durable and stylish.â€
Optic Nerve’s price-conscious, performance-driven eyewear embraces industry-leading technologies and each piece comes with 100 percent UV protection and a lifetime warranty. Just a few of these technologies include transitional lenses; impact-resistant lenses; tactilite rubber to reduce slippage even in activities with a high perspiration factor; durable, resilient frames that literally bend; and Toric lens technology for the most ergonomic, flattering fit.
Optic Nerve’s new and updated styles take advantage of a wide range of these technologies to produce sunglasses that can meet the needs of any athlete but are stylish enough to be worn as fashion pieces.
Eyeque (MSRP $69)
It can be difficult to find a sunglass that performs well in activities with a high perspiration factor, but the new Eyeque makes the grade for everything from endurance racing to mountain biking. Part of Optic Nerve’s PhotoMatic lens series, the Eyeque is constructed from high-grade polycarbonate resin and utilizes decentered lens technology for optimum optical and visual clarity. These transitional lenses feature class-1 optical standards, lens venting to reduce fogging, 100 percent UV protection and tactilite rubber bridge rest and temple tips for performance in high-sweat situations. These versatile lenses are a functional choice for any performance sport. The Eyeque is available in matte metallic smoke, pink crystal metal and shiny black.
Autovaughn (MSRP $59)
Extreme comfort meets extreme performance with the new Autovaughn. As part of the Toric lens series, this style features a unique design with two base curves in the same line, creating the most flattering and ergonomic fit and a comfortable style that is ideal for hiking, biking, running and more. This style also features non-slip tactilite rubber bridge rest and temple tips, vented lenses to prevent fogging, TR90 grilamid nylon frames for durability and a “Nerve†laser etching on the temple. This versatile style is available in matte black, shiny powder blue, shiny powder pink, shiny silver, shiny white and shiny yellow.
Roger That (MSRP $59)
This specialty glacier hybrid glass is ideal for mountaineering, snowsports or everyday wear. The TPX Rubber side shield snaps on to block extra light on the slopes and pops off so Roger That can be worn as a conventional sunglass. This functional style also comes with mirrored polarized lenses, TR90 grilamid nylon frame for durability, tactilite rubber bridge rest and adjustable temple tips, 100 percent UV protection and a 6-base format that makes it easy to switch to a prescription lens. Roger That is available in matte black with shiny grey side shields and a blue mirror lens.
Buddah (MSRP $59)
One of Optic Nerve’s classic all-around styles, the Buddah has been updated with a shiny hibiscus flower design laser etched onto the temple and smoke-colored lens. The Buddah is part of Optic Nerve’s Toric lens series, featuring a unique design with two base curves in the same lens, creating an ergonomic fit with incredible peripheral coverage and vision. This allows the oversized Buddah frame to be stylish, secure and comfortable without the bug-eyed look of many oversized frames. The Buddah also offers 100 percent UV protection, focal point lens technology to eliminate prismatic distortion and impact-resistant lens material.
Mo Flava (MSRP $59)
A fashion piece that is at home on or off the trails, the ever-so-popular Mo Flava is now available in shiny black with a new bar code design laser etched on the temple and a flash mirror lens and in white with a brown lens. The Mo Flava is also part of Optic Nerve’s Toric lens series, with a unique design with two base curves in the same lens, creating an ergonomic fit with incredible peripheral coverage and vision. The Mo Flava also offers 100 percent UV protection, a four-point frame fit to ensure a secure and comfortable fit, focal point lens technology to eliminate prismatic distortion and impact-resistant lens material.
