DENVER, CO. – With two thirds of Eric Larsen’s Save the Poles Expedition successfully completed, Optic Nerve, the Denver-based sport sunglass manufacturer, announced today, that it is increasing its support of the expedition. An equipment sponsor of Larsen from the outset of his endeavor, Optic Nerve, has increased their support to Lead Equipment Sponsor in an effort to greater assist Larsen on his final leg of the journey, the summit of Mt. Everest.

In November 2009, Eric Larsen embarked on the Save the Poles Expedition in which he will trek unsupported to the South Pole, North Pole and the summit of Everest during a consecutive 365-day period to raise awareness of global warming and promote clean energy solutions. His goal, to travel to the “front lines” of global warming to document the changes occurring in the last great frozen places, is two thirds complete after successfully reaching both the North and South Pole earlier this year.

“Larsen’s objectives are very much in line with Optic Nerve’s core values,” said Bill Cotton, President of Optic Nerve. “Optic Nerve is proud to increase our support to Lead Equipment Sponsor for Save the Poles and assist Eric in his final leg of the expedition.”

Optic Nerve is committed to reducing its corporate carbon footprint. The company operates out of an energy efficient building that has 10k of solar power and produces a line of eco-friendly sunglasses called the FORESEE Collection which is made from 100 percent sustainable frame materials.

“Traveling in some of the most remote and frozen places on the planet, I rely heavily on the gear I use to live and survive. Optic Nerve goggles and glasses are critical components of my ability to travel and be safe in conditions that routinely plummet to 40 degrees below zero.” said adventurer and activist, Eric Larsen. “Over the past several years, Optic Nerve and I have been to the summit of Mt. McKinley and Mt. Rainier, the North and South Poles, with the next stop being Mt. Everest. I don’t know of any other eyewear company that has been on so many successful adventures.”
