Sized for gear-intensive day hikes, quick summit pushes and everything in between, Sierra Designs Tech Packs center on versatility

BOULDER, COLO. (For Immediate Release) – One year after successfully reentering the pack market with their innovative Traverse Series backpacks, Sierra Designs ups their offering for 2012 with the entirely new and versatile Tech Series backpacks.

Designed for any activity from hiking and biking to climbing and commuting, Sierra Designs’ Tech packs combine advanced suspension systems with lightweight materials to create a line of five packs with outstanding fit, carry, and ventilation.

“When we set out to create this line of packs, we wanted to give people a go-anywhere, do-anything option to compliment any active, outdoor lifestyle,” said Sue Timbo, Sierra Designs marketing director. “The result is a range of packs that easily handle everything from a day on the trail to the daily commute.”

For activities requiring extra gear, the Discovery 30 is sure to be a favorite. Top-loading with ‘Anti-Slosh’ hydration compatibility and ‘Super-Size-Me’ shove-it pocket, the Discovery features a molded HDPE framesheet with a DAC aluminum stay for excellent strength and load control. An included rain cover handles unexpected downpours while molded foam back pads add comfort and ventilation. Available in two sizes with dual adjust shoulder straps for a perfect fit. $169.

Sleek and streamlined, the Feather 25 is ideal for all day peak-bagging adventures. With ample space for all the necessities, the top-loading Feather features SD’s ‘Anti-Slosh’ hydration compatibility, crossover compression straps, and an included rain cover. A GPS attachment point and hipbelt pockets add convenience. Available in S/M and M/L with two shoulder strap attachment points for a custom fit. $159.

The Garnet 20 is a true multifunction pack with all the features needed for a day of hiking or an extended mountain bike ride. Front panel access makes it easy to stow trail necessities while a bike light attachment point, bike pump sleeve, and helmet-ready shove-it pocket handle all your cycling needs. A molded HDPE framesheet lends support and a removable hipbelt adds versatility. The Garnet 20 is available in S/M and M/L sizes for $109.

When traveling light, the Rohn 15 is the ticket. With panel loading access and a front security pocket, the Rohn easily handles the essentials. With a bike light attachment point and handy bike pump sleeve, this pack switches easily from hiking to biking. A front bungee and stretch side pockets provide extra storage while a molded HDPE framesheet and molded foam pads give comfortable support. $99.

Small, light, and compressible, the 12 oz, 1300 cu inch Summit Sack goes almost unnoticed in a larger pack until summit day. Big enough for extra layers, snacks, water, and any other summit day essentials, the top-loading Summit Sack features shoulder straps, waistbelt, and sternum strap for comfortable carrying. Ultra-compact, the Summit Sack folds into its own internal pocket for easy storage in a larger pack. $49.

The complete line of Tech Packs will be on display in the Sierra Designs booth (#23015) during the Outdoor Retailer Trade Show in Salt Lake City August 4-7.
