Ortovox Debuts Modular ABS Packs at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market
Longmont, CO (January 14, 2013) –ORTOVOX introduces a new line of modular ABS packs, including two women’s specific models, at January’s Outdoor Retailer Winter Market.
ORTOVOX will showcase a revolutionary and versatile ABS avalanche pack line featuring a removable airbag system – the M.A.S.S. (modular avalanche safety system), which may be inserted into all five new models.
ORTOVOX is partnering with ABS, who has 28 years’ experience and expertise in avalanche safety. Their Twin-Bag Technology allows optimum floatation and protection in an avalanche. The versatility of the M.A.S.S. system is both innovative and unique. Just a few simple steps and a few minutes is all it takes to install the M.A.S.S. unit into any of the five pack models. Without the M.A.S.S unit installed, the packs are up to 4 pounds lighter and gain several liters in volume providing greater versatility of use. The TRIGGER can be installed for either right or left-handed users and is height and angle is adjustable. An aluminum bracket protects the TRIGGER from unintended release.
ORTOVOX has developed three different models focused on free ride, lift-access backcountry and day tours and two models developed for longer tours. The FREE RIDER 24, 26 and 24 Women’s have the new removable SPS PRO back protector. It provides TÜV-CERTIFIED impactsafety and may also be used alonewith included attachment straps. It provides additional trauma protection with the pack or when used without.
Both TOUR ABS models, the Tour 32 + 7 ABS and Tour 30 + 7 Women’s, have both versatility and comfort with their newly developed VENT-O-FLEX BACK SYSTEM. An O-shaped frame distributes weight evenly between the shoulders and hips and thus relieves the back muscles. Opening a central zipper adds more than 20% additional volume making these models ideal for longer ski tours.
All models feature the multi-functional X- SKIFIX SKI FASTENING SYSTEM. The system allows skis to be fastened in different ways, either diagonally or crossed, using locking aluminum clasps that may also be used to fasten snowboards and snowshoes.
For retailers, ORTOVOX will be selling ABS ACTIVATION UNITS in conjunction with the ORTOVOX ABS pack program and independently to retail partners.
