SETS THE STANDARD FOR BEACON SEARCH PRACTICE
November, 2007 – (Hopkinton, NH) – Ortovox USA has introduced the most advanced and user-friendly system for avalanche beacon search training.
For ski patrols, guide services, heli operators, military trainers, and backcountry-oriented retail shops, the Ortovox Search Training System (STS) offers significant technological improvements over existing training systems:
– The STS is completely wireless, which reduces set-up time to about ten minutes and eliminates the aggravating tendency of wired systems to become unplugged when the snowpack shifts.
– The STS control unit can control up to five buried transmitting units, remotely turning any of them on and off, permitting multiple searchers to use the same area without digging up and relocating transmitters.
– The Ortovox STS system is compatible with the Recco reflector system.
There are two models of the STS system: one with three transmitters and an MSRP of $1650 and a five-transmitter model for $2250. The three-transmitter model can be upgraded for $425 per additional transmitter.
