Cortez, CO – September 22, 2016Osprey Packs, a leader in creating top-quality, high-performance packs, announced the departure of its CEO Tom Barney. Barney joined Osprey in August 2001 and served as Osprey’s CEO for almost 15 years.

“Under Tom’s excellent leadership and direction, Osprey experienced significant sales growth and a broad increase in its retail and distribution partners. He helped establish Osprey as not only a leader in the outdoor industry, but also an excellent business partner,” said Mike Pfotenhauer, founder and owner of Osprey Packs.

Additionally, Barney has been a passionate advocate for the outdoor industry and OIA as well as supporting the growth, culture and welfare of Osprey’s ever growing employee base.

Barney will remain with Osprey until October 28. The company is in the final stages of its search for a replacement. The company plans to announce the appointment of Osprey’s next CEO before years’ end.
