Osprey Packs, Inc., an independent pack company located in the high desert and mountains of Southwestern Colorado, is proud to announce that the Exos 46 has been awarded a silver OutDoor INDUSTRY AWARD for 2008.

“Osprey is honored by the recognition received for our new Exos pack series,” said Tom Barney, Osprey’s CEO. “The OutDoor Industry Award is the highest available in the European market and demonstrates once again that Mike Pfotenhauer and our product team lead the industry in pack innovation.”

The OutDoor INDUSTRY AWARD recognizes exceptional performance in the field of design and innovation. The international jury of experts evaluate products on a number of criteria, including degree of innovation, design quality, workmanship, choice of materials, environmental friendliness, sustainability, functionality, utility, safety, trendsetting character, and brand value.

A total of 280 entries were submitted from 25 countries for this year’s third annual competition. The jury presented 27 awards, of them two gold and six silver.

The extremely lightweight Exos 46 was designed with the knowledge that, in the long run, going light with a pack that has no suspension burns more energy than is gained by ounces saved. The Exos 46 incorporates a ventilated suspension built for comfort that combines a 6061 T6 Aluminum frame with Osprey’s contoured, tensioned-mesh backpanel,. The result is a highly specialized, lightweight pack built for day long to multi-week adventures. The Exos 46 weighs just one pound, 14 ounces (845g).

The Exos Series will ship to retail locations in spring 2009 and will be available in three volumes, 58-liters, 46-liters and 34-liters, ranging in retail price from $149 to $219.
