Cortez, CO – July 26, 2012 – Osprey Packs is ramping up their Hydraulics collection for Spring 2013 with a redesigned reservoir, the introduction of new women’s specific hydration packs and significant updates to their carry-over hydration packs. The new Hydraulics reservoir builds on the successful concepts behind the first generation and is now entirely designed and manufactured by Osprey.
“Staying hydrated while on the trail is one of the most essential rules of the outdoors,” said Erik Hamerschlag, product line manager of Osprey. “At Osprey, we understand that carrying water should never compromise fit, comfort or stability in a pack. Our new Hydraulics collection carries forward key innovations of the first generation while offering major improvements to key design components.”
The new Osprey Hydraulics™ reservoir offers many innovations including:
• Enhanced ease when filling and loading into a pack
• Contoured backer plate to preserve pack fit and comfort
• Magnetic bite valve that attaches to sternum strap
Additionally, the new reservoir is made with a BPA- and PVC-free Metallocene PE film that is resilient and tasteless. The new three-quarters turn cap provides a quick and secure closure system, and the new direct welded HydroStatic™ plate maintains a low and wide reservoir profile. Finally, the flexible hose has been changed to ¼ inches for faster water flow.
To keep reservoirs clean, Osprey is launching Hydraulics Cleaning Tablets. These all natural, biodegradable and chlorine FREE tablets will be available to consumers July 2012.

Independent since 1974 and anchored by the design genius of company founder and owner, Mike Pfotenhauer, Osprey Packs has long set the standard for creating innovative, high quality gear carrying equipment. The collection includes packs and bags designed to help adventurers enjoy their outdoor, biking and travel pursuits.
The location of company headquarters in Cortez, Colorado, near the rugged San Juan Mountains on the edge of desert canyon country, provides a constant inspiration and a superb testing ground for Osprey products. Osprey also maintains a product development office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, near the factories where they manufacture their products, ensuring face-to-face relationships and transparency with their suppliers. In 2009, Osprey opened a design office in Mill Valley, California, a hub of design talent and the birthplace of mountain biking. All three of these offices play a crucial role in creating Osprey gear that lasts a lifetime.
To celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2009, Osprey launched the All Mighty Guarantee, an enhancement of a lifetime warranty that was already one of the most robust in the industry. Free of charge, the company will repair any damage or defect in its product – whether it was purchased in 1974 or yesterday.
