The Outdoor Alliance, in partnership with Black Diamond Equipment, is bringing a new film fest to the show floor at this summer’s Outdoor Retailer. The “Protect Your Passion†film fest hour will be held at the Black Diamond booth #8026, during the Outdoor Retailer trade show in Salt Lake City, on Sunday August 10th from 5-6 PM.
In just one hour, which is all anyone wants to spend at a film fest anyway, the Outdoor Alliance will inspire show attendees to “Protect Your Passionâ€. Three inspiring short films centered around the preservation of wilderness areas and outdoor play spaces will be officially debuted while beer flows like the fountains of endangered geysers.
Black Diamond Equipment has generously offered their booth space and two kegs of delicious micro brew to the cause of industry folks milling about over beverages while thinking, “Hey, maybe I should be doing something to protect the places where I hike, paddle, climb, ride, and/or skiâ€. Without taking itself too seriously, the Protect Your Passion film fest hour depicts some of the very real threats to popular areas where outdoor industry folks recreate every day, as well as destinations like Yosemite National Park, Indian Creek, and Moab, Utah and the Yuba River, to name a few.
The film fest line-up features recently released shorts on protecting roadless areas in our national forests, and rethinking and reforming the 1872 mining laws to update policies on hard rock mining claims on our public lands, much of which is wilderness.
“The Outdoor Alliance is promoting these films to raise awareness about how each one
of us plays a critical role in keeping areas open,†said Robb Shurr, Director of Marketing and Business Development for the Access Fund. “It may seem obvious, but all of us at different times leave it up to others to ensure the enjoyment of our favorite crags and opens spaces for ourselves and for years to come. This fest is meant to inspire and re-inspire everyone to take action where we live and play.â€
