Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition (OIWC) Announces Winners of the

OIWC proudly announces the 2011 winners for the Outdoor and Snowsport industry’s Pioneering Woman and First Ascent Awards. Sally McCoy of Camelbak and Elana Chase of Vail Ski Club will be presented the Pioneering Woman Award. And Kate Ross of Williamette Riverkeeper and Rachel Gitajn of Burton Snowboards will receive the First Ascent Award. Nominations were submitted by industry peers and the winners were voted on by the OIWC Board of Directors.

The Pioneering Woman Award recognizes a woman with a commitment to mentoring female colleagues, which exemplifies the OIWC’s mission to equip, educate and support women in the outdoor industries.

The First Ascent Award complements the Pioneering Woman Award by recognizing a junior level female with a notable commitment to leadership. This award presents a platform for the OIWC to nurture and support the industry’s next female leaders.

The awards presentation and combined networking events for McCoy and Ross will take place at the OIWC Outdoor Retailer Gathering on Jan 21st, 2011. Networking will start at 5:00pm in the Timberland booth #32081 with the awards presentation at 5:30pm.

Chase and Gitajn will be recognized at the OIWC Gathering during the SIA Tradeshow in Denver, CO on January 28th, 2011. The Gathering will begin at noon in Room #205 with a FREE lunch, with the awards presentation at 12:30pm.
