Boulder, CO (September 12, 2013) – The Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition (OIWC) is presenting two events at the upcoming Interbike tradeshow; Thought Leader and Awards Presentation and Women Mean Business Happy Hour.
Sponsored by Bicycling Magazine, with additional support from Interbike and National Bike Dealers Association, the Thought Leader and Awards Presentation will be held on September 18th, 4:30-6pm, in the Islander Ballroom C at the Mandalay Bay Hotel. Keynote Speaker, Elysa Walk, GM-USA of Giant Bicycles, will speak on The Top Five Myths of the Bike Industry providing knowledgeable insight and sharing her expertise on how woman and men can break through bike business paradigms to grow the industry. The presentation will address the buying and political power of women as well as how to best market to, sell to and employ women in our industry.
During the event, two very special awards will be given to women in the Bike Industry in celebration of their impact on and advancement of women both inside and outside the companies where they work. Nominated by their peers, Pioneering Woman recipient Jenn Dice and First Ascent Award recipient Anna Schwinn will be recognized for their deep commitment to furthering the vision of the OIWC through exceptional leadership and inspiration to others. The Pioneering Woman Award recognizes a “maven of mentoring” who has shown outstanding commitment to paving the way for women in the industry. The First Ascent Award recognizes an inspiring, up-and-coming future woman leader. Thank you to Bicycle Retailer and Industry News for sponsoring these two awards.
Also at Interbike, OIWC will be co-hosting Women Mean Business Happy Hour with Spokeswomen, Thursday, September 19th, 4-6pm, in the Women’s Lounge at Mandalay Bay. Grab a beer and join in for networking with movers and shakers in the Bike Industry, and to learn more about OIWC and Spokeswomen. The event will include a raffle with prizes from sponsors Giant Bicycles, Women Bike,shebeest, Nantucket Bike Basket, and Interbike, as well as Moxie Cycling, Pedal Chic, Terry Bicycles, Active Angelz, Action Wipes, Advanced Sports International and Specialized. Arrive early- the first attendees will receive a Women Mean Business t-shirt! For a $10 donation to OIWC, happy hour attendees will receive a pint glass and 2 raffle tickets; extra raffle tickets can be purchased for $5.
