Friedrichshafen – Students are invited to submit their entries in the new “Concepts” category for the first time. With this year’s OutDoor tradeshow in Friedrichshafen approaching fast (July 17 to 20, 2008), the entire Outdoor industry is invited to submit their products by June 6, 2008 to compete for the OutDoor INDUSTRY AWARD 2008, in its third year this year.

Entries will be accepted in the following categories: Apparel, Shoes, Backpacks/Travel luggage, Mountain-climbing equipment, Camping equipment, Sleeping bags, Water sports and Accessories. “Concepts” is a new category: for the first time designers, companies and students will have the opportunity to participate with their experimental drafts of products and studies that have not yet gone beyond the draft stage. The participation for students is free of charge.

In addition to honoring the winners in each category, the jury of experts, consisting of Boris Gnielka (outdoor magazine, Motor Presse Stuttgart, Stuttgart/D), Mark Held (European Outdoor Group, Zug/CH), Alan Hinkes (Abenteurer, North Yorkshire/GB), Rolf Reinschmidt (adidas AG, Herzogenaurach/D), Martin Willners (Sportfack Sverige, Stockholm/S) and Olaf Wittayer (Sport 2000 – die Outdoorprofis, Limburg/D), will also present additional gold, silver and bronze awards for the most innovative products among the award winners. The winners of these special OutDoor INDUSTRY AWARD 2008 prizes will not be announced until the Awards Ceremony, which is scheduled to be held on July 17, the opening day of the OutDoor tradeshow in Friedrichshafen. All the winning products will be on display during the tradeshow in Foyer West on the ground floor from July 17 to 20.

The “OutDoor Celebrity of the Year” will also be selected once again this year – a personality who has made a special contribution to the topic of the outdoors. This person will be chosen by a panel of internationally leading trade journalists. Åke Nordin, the founder of the Swedish company, Fjällräven, was able to claim the honor in 2007.

Online registrations can be submitted and other information accessed at www.ifdesign.de (organized by iF). Further information is available online at: www.european-outdoor.com.
