Outdoor Industry Supports Four Corners School’s Youth in Service to the Outdoors
MONTICELLO, Utah-For the last 10 years Four Corners School of Outdoor Education has garnered outstanding support from the Outdoor Industry. Four Corners School could not do their work without all the gear that makes camping safe and comfortable. It’s a win-win when outdoor industry leaders who want to give back to public lands help Four Corners School empower underprivileged youth build trails or restore rivers. Through the support that the industry provides, Four Corners gets youth, students, and teachers outside, active and healthy.
Four Corners School is a non-profit organization, based in Monticello, Utah, that provides life-long learning experiences on and about the Colorado Plateau bioregion – home to some of the most spectacular landscapes in the world, like Arches, Canyonlands, and Mesa Verde National Parks. For 27 years, Four Corners School has provided people of all ages and backgrounds with life-changing, place-based outdoor education experiences throughout the Plateau.
As important as industry leadership is to Four Corners School, the School is important to the outdoor industry too. Transcending conservation, all Four Corners School programs integrate adventure, education, and service as well for all ages and backgrounds, focusing on Navajo youth, students, and teachers. All participants either help restore public lands and protect trails and rivers; and/or earn their GED, AmeriCorps Education awards, learn and improve their work skills; or develop new life and work skills. Adventure is the “glue†that holds all these lessons together: Whitewater rafting, hiking, exploring cliff dwellings, and admiring the night sky, these activities are also a big part of their mission and programs.
Four Corners School thanks the following outdoor industry partners for their leadership and support: Katadyn, Hi-Tec, JanSport, Eureka Tents, Timberland, Deuter, Osprey, GSI Outdoors, SmartWool, GU Energy Labs, TyRy Inc., Adventure Medical Kits, TravelChair, Sierra Designs, Magellan, LÄRABAR, Camp Chef, and Kelty.
