Outdoor Research & Grassroots Outdoor Alliance Make Donation to Access
Outdoor Research donated $2,784.53 to the Access Fund in cooperation with Grassroots Outdoors Alliance. The donation is part of an ongoing environmental tithing initiative between the two groups.

Asheville, NC—In September 2008, Outdoor Research donated $2,784.53 to the Access Fund in cooperation with Grassroots Outdoors Alliance. The donation is part of an ongoing environmental tithing initiative between the two groups. As a manufacturer partner with Grassroots Outdoor Alliance, Outdoor Research has committed to donating funds quarterly to select environmental organizations. The focus of the initiative is to support the work of environmental groups that have direct impact on the preservation of open space and promote human powered activity.
This year, the Access Fund was selected as the beneficiary of the donation due to its long standing commitment to land conservation and working to secure access to public lands on behalf of the climbing community. In the first round of grants in 2008, Access Fund donated $11,750 to climbing preservation. The second round of grants will be announced later this Fall.
The Grassroots Outdoor Alliance advocates environmental initiatives on local and national levels through its retailer members. Since 2007, Outdoor Research partnered with Grassroots Outdoor Alliance as its retailers continually shape the outdoor industry and work as a resource to its respective regions and communities. Grassroots consists of 34 retailer members in 22 states and 72 locations. Through similar programs with manufacturer partners Grassroots Outdoor Alliance has helped distribute over $140,000 in funds to environmental organizations in 2008.
