Outdoor Research® Introduces New Sidecountry Line
Feature-rich Styles Deliver Comfort and Performance to Skiers and Riders Exploring Untracked Terrain Beyond Resort Ropelines

Outdoor Research, manufacturer of functional solutions for human powered adventure, unveiled its Fall 2010 men’s and women’s apparel collections with an innovative new Sidecountry line of ten shells and pants.
As more ski resorts open their boundaries, more skiers and riders are exploring the sidecountry, the terrain beyond the ropeline, immediately accessible from a resort, which can be a playground for exploring new lines in fresh snow. The Outdoor Research Sidecountry line was created for this evolving group of snow adventurers.

The OR product team thoughtfully designed and chose materials for the Sidecountry line to cover a wide range of snow conditions and exertion levels to deliver comfort and performance. Starting with the cold morning lift ride, strategically placed insulation in both the jackets and pants provide comfort and warmth in key areas like the back, shoulders, seat, and knees, while minimizing weight and bulk. After a few fast runs inbounds, the high-output venting controls the heat from a bootpack or brief skin to the top of a line.
The relaxed fit allows for easy movement on the descent, whether making high-speed powder turns or going ‘big’ off natural feature. RECCO® locaters in each garment add to the margin of safety by enabling the use of technology available in most ski areas. Finishing touches like stash pockets for skins, gloves, goggles, media devices, and lift tickets complete the Sidecountry line from OR.

The Men’s Sidecountry line includes four shells, StormBound Jacket, Axcess Jacket, Boundless Jacket and Igneo Jacket; and two pants, Axcess Pants and Igneo Pants. The Women’s line has three shells: StormBound Jacket, Axcess Jacket, and Igneo Jacket; and one pant, the Igneo Pants.
Here are descriptions of the pinnacle pieces of the Sidecountry apparel collection:
StormBound Jacket
The first of the new Sidecountry styles is the StormBound Jacket, made for both men and women. The warmest in the Sidecountry line, this waterproof yet breathable shell is insulated for the lift, with backcountry functionality and body-heat regulation for out of bound exploration.

Fully-featured, waterproof and lightly insulated Sidecountry shell with a relaxed cut fends off the wettest, fresh-falling snow in moderate to extreme conditions. It is included in both the men’s and women’s collections.
