SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. – Following a successful launch at Summer Market, Outdoor Retailer will host the first series of Outdoor Retailer SNEWS® Merchandising Tours at Winter Market, held at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, January 21-24, 2010.
Merchandising expert Sharon Leicham will lead show attendees on two different tours of the show floor highlighting exhibiting brands demonstrating excellence in merchandising. Leicham will offer valuable advice to tour participants as well as a forum for peers to share their own merchandising experience. The hour-long merchandising tours will depart from the Source and Design Center at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday January 22 and Saturday January 23, respectively.
“The merchandising tours direct retailers’ attention to specific examples of creative genius and marketing savvy that they might apply to their own stores’ merchandising strategies,” said Kenji Haroutunian, Outdoor Retailer show director. “Capturing the ‘A’ game style display techniques from hundreds of exhibiting brands brings more value to a retailer’s show experience. Today’s technology, along with our partnership with SNEWS, allows us to further broadcast that value to specialty retailers world wide.”
The merchandising tours cover the entire span of the Outdoor Retailer show floor and though the tours originate from the Source and Design Center, they will address examples of merchandising in a variety of areas while offering attendees new merchandising strategies to improve in-store flow, increase profitability and feature winter product lines.
Leicham, author of “Merchandising Your Way to Success” and merchandising editor for SNEWS, will tap into her forty years of experience in merchandising with manufacturers such as Specialized Bicycle Components and Sierra Designs, and partner with Outdoor Retailer to guide the Winter Market merchandising tours.
