Outdoor Retailer Winter Market Kicks Off with All Mountain Demo
Bi-annual trade show continues today at the Salt Palace in downtown Salt Lake City
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – January 20, 2011 – The outdoor recreation industry’s flagship trade show continues today in downtown Salt Lake City a day after retailers tested the latest and greatest in winter gear at the Outdoor Retailer All Mountain Demo at Solitude Ski Resort.
The annual All Mountain Demo, which featured more than 40 exhibitors, offered retailers a chance to put skis, snowboards, apparel and other snow sports equipment through the paces on nearly a foot of new snow at Solitude Ski Resort in Big Cottonwood Canyon.
Most of the snow sport spectrum was covered as industry heavyweights like Atlas Snowshoes, Black Diamond Equipment, Columbia Sportswear and K2 Skis outfitted excited testers alongside backcountry specialists like Dynafit, G3 and Garmont. The event wasn’t limited to just skis and boots; optics-maker Native supplied goggles and French snow bike maker SnowScoot sent retailers on what they call “BMX on snow” bikes for quick carves through the expo area’s thick crowd.
More than 2,000 retailers and exhibitors participated in the event at its new location just 30 minutes outside of Salt Lake City in the Wasatch Mountains. In addition to product demo opportunities, retailers also participated in snowshoe races, prize drawings and free lift tickets.

The four-day indoor portion of the trade show begins today at 9 a.m. at the Salt Palace Convention Center and runs through Sunday, January 20.
