Outpost, A New Experiential Trade Show

The first of many versions of The Outpost took place recently (October 7-9) at Chanslor Ranch, a 380 acre coastal ranch in Bodega Bay, CA. Focusing on the outdoor and creative industries, The Outpost 2016 brought together a carefully curated group of outdoor brands, makers, and creators to showcase their products to 150 key media, buyers, and influencers in the outdoor space.

The event was a massive success, garnering plaudits from revered media outlets and millions of social media impressions as well as unanimous praise from all participants. Uneri is planning a range of OUTPOST events in 2017 and has formed a partnership with The Mountain Lab, a full-service brand strategy and product development company that developed the VENTURE OUT concept at OUTDOOR RETAILER. Additionally, Eric Bach, co-founder of HIPCAMP, joined the team as CEO. Together, the team will bring four OUTPOST events to life in 2017. We are currently bringing on partners to activate at the following experiential trade show events:

March 2017 – Joshua Tree, CA

June 2017 – Boulder, CO

June 2017 – Upstate NY

July 2017 – Utah

September 2017 – Northern CA

The Outpost concept came about through a lack of faith in the current trade show model, an overwhelming marketing experience that has lost sight of its core goals. Uneri co-founder Jeff Wolfe and the Head of Marketing at Rumpl, Evan Dudley, were discussing a campaign for Rumpl over a few beers. What began as a small, single-brand idea, blossomed into a concept that will spark a paradigm shift in the way business is conducted in any industry.

The Outpost is a trade show retreat, where brands, distributors, consumers and influencers experience products and services within specific verticals (i.e. the outdoor industry) and build relationships, all in a relaxing environment. It peels away the forced business mentality of massive trade shows, foregoing participant quantity for intimate participant quality. The intimacy provides a more organic experience, which spawns stronger relationships. The intimate environment also allows brands to get immediate consumer feedback on their products and services while providing an educational experience for employees where they can learn best practices from other brands in the space. Attendees get to enjoy an all-inclusive experience that doubles as a getaway and a networking event.
