Santa Fe, NM, April 24, 2007—After months of rigorous testing, Outside’s Buyer’s Guide announced today the 2007 winners of the magazine’s coveted Gear of the Year awards. The 15 winning products—from backpacks to kayaks to digital cameras and GPS units—represent the very best adventure gear available today. The Buyer’s Guide is available on newsstands April 24th.

“There’s a difference between great gear and perfect gear–with that difference in mind, we sent dozens of testers and hundreds of products into the field last fall,” said Outside senior editor Dennis Lewon. “On treks, ski tours, hikes, and paddling trips across the country and to the far corners of the globe, our small army of testers had one clear mandate: to bring back the world’s best gear.”

Organized according to sport or activity, the Buyer’s Guide makes it easy to find the reviews, technology news, and buying tips. This October, Outside will also publish, for the first time ever, a Winter Buyer’s Guide.

This is the second year Outside’s Buyer’s Guide has devoted at least 25 pages to gear designed and tested specifically for women. Outside is the first national magazine to give such significant space and resources to a women’s guide of this type
