Overland Equipment Continues Sponsorship of the 2011 Mermaid Series

Chico, CA – Overland Equipment, makers of versatile, highly organized and durable active lifestyle bags, continues to encourage women to live actively and stay healthy by sponsoring, for the third year in a row, the California based Mermaid Series.
“Overland Equipment is proud to be a part of the Mermaid Series again this year,” states Julie Skirving General Manager at Overland Equipment. “We are excited to be a sponsor of Mermaid because of their commitment to promoting healthy, active lifestyles for girls and women in a supportive and motivational environment.”
The Mermaid Series hosts multiple events throughout California and a bike tour in France. They provide training, support, motivation and eco-friendly events in an attempt to help women change their lives by setting and discovering new goals for themselves in fitness and in life. The races are women-only and include everything from a 5K run to a triathlon and a duathlon. To encourage activity from an early age they also offer a mini mermaid 1.5 mile run for girls ages 6 – 12. In an attempt to provide eco-friendly events, the Mermaid provides bins for donating old shoes, has produced organic cotton Mermaid branded apparel, offers biodegradable water bottles and strives to recycle 100% of the plastic and cardboard produced at the events.
“We are thrilled to renew our partnership with Overland Equipment for a third year,” says Carlo Facchino. “Our athletes constantly juggle a busy schedule of training, work and family. Overland Equipment bags help them stay organized and on top of their active lifestyle.”
Overland Equipment will be providing custom race bags for each participant and has worked with the Mermaid Series to create Special Mermaid Edition embroidered bags that will be for sale at events and on-line.
