SEATTLE, WA – Pacific Market International (PMI), Seattle-based owner of iconic food and beverage brands Aladdin® and Stanley®, is proud to announce the company has been named a winner of the 2011 Washington Green 50 award. Presented by Seattle Business Magazine, a panel of expert judges chose PMI from a pool of more than 150 nominees based on sustainable business practices.
“It is an honor to be recognized by Seattle Business Magazine as one of the 2011 Washington Green 50 companies for our work in environmental stewardship. Corporate Social Responsibility is a fundamental element of our brands and services. Our commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility is long term,†states Valerie Bone, Director of Corporate Responsibility, PMI. “We do it because we believe that it is the right way to do business.â€
Since 2005, PMI has focused on environmental improvement as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy. Each year there have been numerous environmental improvements in Aladdin® and Stanley® products, PMI offices and core factories. An example of PMI’s environmental innovation is the development of eCycleâ„¢ products.
In 2010, PMI’s Leadership Team established five Strategic Pillars that will drive the company forward from 2010 to 2015: Innovation, Culture/People, Social Responsibility, Environmental Stewardship and Commitment to Excellence. The Environmental Stewardship Pillar is defined as, “We are committed to being good stewards of our environment by leading our industry in manufacturing methods, use of materials and human interactions that reduce waste and our carbon footprint.â€
That same year PMI published its first Corporate Responsibility Report that provides transparent communication of their environmental and social KPIs. The report can be found on the company’s website: http://www.pmi-worldwide.com/who-we-are/social-responsibility/default.aspx. PMI will be publishing their second report later this year.
This Washington Green 50 award will help to provide incentive to PMI employees as they drive for innovative improvement. It will also allow PMI to extend its network. Since performing their first LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) in 2006 of one of their products, it was apparent to PMI that the best opportunities for environmental improvement are in their partnerships with their customers and their supply chain. Working together for shared environmental goals generates success.
