PADDLEexpo to present stand-up paddling at ISPO MUNICH 2013
SUP has most certainly arrived. As a precursor to its own paddle-specific event in October, PADDLEexpo will present SUP at ISPO MUNICH 2013 in Germany, Feb. 3-6. Look for the SUP area in the Action Sports hall.

The industry already has caught the wave of the stand-up paddling trend. Paddling while standing on a board (SUP) is one of today’s fastest growing sports. Since the trend has exploded, tourist areas, sport clubs and event organizers have struggled to keep up with the demand for this beginner-friendly activity.
Stand-up paddling has an extremely diverse attraction: Ski schools have discovered it’s a great profit center after the winter season is over and renting boards in vacation hot spots works well too. Workouts on a board, yoga classes on boards…. With SUP the possibilities are endless and are done everywhere, from oceans and beaches to lakes and rivers.
SUP has most certainly arrived. That alone is shown in strong participation in competitions: In Germany at the NP SUP 4 Lakes Trophy 2012, there were 130 paddlers on the starting line, and the International Surfing Association (ISA) 2013 World SUP championship will take place in Peru Feb. 19-25, with races all over the globe leading up to it – and beyond.
Expert information is of course now available at trade shows around the globe. As a precursor to its own paddle-specific event in October, PADDLEexpo itself will present SUP at ISPO MUNICH 2013 in Germany, Feb. 3-6. Look for the SUP area in the Action Sports hall (A3), where all of the key brands will present their products and news. Look for live shows and demos in the SUP tank there, plus find experts to answer questions.
Horst Fürsattel, organizer of the world’s largest paddlesports-exclusive trade show in Nuremberg, is exciting about the coming year, his 2013 show — and the opportunity to show-off the growing SUP market segment at the ISPO MUNICH show:
“ISPO MUNICH with its 80,000 attendees from all over the world is the perfect stage for presenting paddlesports to an international audience,“ Fürsattel said. “At the show, we’ll have the chance to reach retailers and journalists who perhaps have not yet heard of PADDLEexpo. This will also be a fantastic chance for us to show them why SUP is so fascinating. The partnership with the ISPO MUNICH show has worked very well. We’ve gone from a mini-booth in the entrance hall to a fully outfitted sports presentation with a tank in a central hall.â€
The SUP area is presented in partnership between ISPO MUNICH and PADDLEexpo, the global paddlesports trade show for kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddling. The 2013 PADDLEexpo will take place Oct. 2-4 in Nuremberg. More information and photos are available at www.PADDLEexpo.com.
