(Springfield, VA.) – Building on the January 2007 launch of the Paddlesports Industry Association, a logo representing the image of the new organization was recently created.
The new logo is a simple concept. The colors of the graphic element reflect water and sky, surrounding the clear image of a paddle blade. The blade is sharp and clean, enhancing the modern image of the paddlesports industry. The paddle does retain some of the design elements from the old Professional Paddlesports Association logo, linking the new association to its history. The name of the association is in the crisp, clean font family Myriad. “Paddlesports” is kept in lowercase to enhance the “fun” found in canoeing, kayaking, and rafting, while “Industry Association” is all capitalized to show the strength of the industry’s unity.
The contrast in colors, the distinct graphic, and the text clarity are elements that bring a professional image, while the lowercase lettering and the placement of the graphic element lend a whimsical flavor.
Commenting on the new logo, Paddlesports Industry Association President Mike Prom said, “Our new logo highlights our effort to build a strong organization that fulfills our mission of improving the business of paddlesports while building participation. We hope the image becomes synonymous with who we are and what we do together as an industry.”
The Paddlesports Industry Association would like to thank Confluence Watersports for its pro-bono assistance in developing the new logo. Particularly, the association wants to recognize the efforts of Duffy-Marie Ebel, Creative Director, and Chris Hessman, Graphic Designer, for their hard work in developing the new logo, and Kelley Woolsey, SVP of Sales and Marketing for his oversight of the project. The association would also like to thank Sven Lee at Fendler Communications for his guidance in logo development, and association members Dania Egedi, George Sluker and others for their comments and guidance during the development process.
The Paddlesports Industry Association is a 501 (c)(6) trade association dedicated to the growth of paddlesports. The association represents the interests of outfitters, manufacturers, retailers, instruction centers, sales representatives, and outside suppliers of the paddlesports industry throughout North America. The organization supports industry growth and its membership through programs that include representation in government/legislative affairs, consumer education, outreach/marketing initiatives, membership cost saving benefits, and professional development programs.
