ARCATA, CALIFORNIA, (May 7, 2013)— As a brand, Kokatat has a long and storied history of sponsoring paddling’s most influential and iconic athletes. Now, the brand proudly welcomes paddling instructor and Werner ambassador Danny Mongno to Team Kokatat.
Mongno has been heavily involved in the world of paddle sports since his introduction to kayaking at the age of 18. Although Mongno’s childhood dream of becoming a classroom teacher didn’t pan out in the traditional sense, Mongno, now 40, travels the world teaching clinics that help athletes improve their paddling skills.
While an accomplished and multi-faceted paddler, it is Mongno’s industry experience that adds another level of expertise and capabilities to an already powerful athlete program. A full time Werner Paddles employee, Mongno’s industry experience lends him a deeper and refreshing understanding of the industry’s inner-workings.
“We’re excited to have Danny on our team and representing us at all the kayaking events he attends throughout the year,” says Jeff Turner, Sales and Design Manager with Kokatat. “He’ll be a great asset to our reps out on the road, but more importantly he’ll be a great ambassador for our company and the sport.”
Kokatat is excited and inspired by Danny’s dedication to the sport, and looks forward to a fruitful and influential partnership.

About Kokatat Inc.
Kokatat has been manufacturing paddling gear in Arcata, California for more than 40 years. At a time when many technical apparel brands were moving manufacturing offshore, Kokatat continued to invest in infrastructure in the United States. Kokatat founder Steve O’Meara was committed to the development of the finest and driest paddling apparel in the world and recognized the need to control and continually evolve the development of our dry wear. In the early days, Kokatat worked closely with W.L. Gore & Associates, makers of GORE-TEX®, to refine the sewing and sealing techniques required for full immersion suits and tops. Today, our hands-on approach to manufacturing continues to set the standard in paddling apparel. Into the water with Kokatat!
